MEMBERS of two part ies came togethe r in Cardi gan and north Pemb roke shire this week to discuss the fu- ture for progressive and sus- tainable politics in Wales. Mike Parker , Plaid Cymru’s We stminster candi date for Cered igion, toget her with And y Chyba, a promin ent membe r of the Wale s Green Party , held joint public meet- ings in Newport and in Car- digan’s Guildhall on July 9. Plaid ’s MP candidate for Cer edi gio n, Mik e Par ker sai d: “It was gre at to hav e thechance for cross -part y di- alogue with members of the Green Party . We had a lively discussion aroun d energy production, the economy of We st Wal es, the chall enges we face in terms of tra ns- port, and the fut ure of food production. We found much common ground. “It was obvious that many of thos e present are desper- at e to see the back of the curre nt Wes tminster gov- ernmen t, and are angry at its stance on issues such as fracking. Richa rd expla ins they bothare looking forwa rd to returning to tour ing again to complement the book launch. “I’mlookingforward to thismini-tour of Wales,” he said. “The tour will t ake i n the Taf wyl Festi val in Cardiff, the Saith Seren bar in Wrexham, the Gwyl Ar al l fes ti va l in Caer - narfo n and of cour se the home gigin OakHall , Rho- sygilwen, near Cardigan. “The humour is an im- por ta nt feat ur e of the band and one of the main reasons why we continue to play.” Ail Symudiad are the fir st rec ognised band to come from Cardigan. “Some people ma y not know but we’re the first Wels h band that did not come from school or col- lege,” said Richard. Food and dri nk is important to all ages, so we will be enlisting the help of Small World Theatre’s Smoothie Bike – a con- traption that produces smoothie s using pedal power. It wil l be great fun for ever y- body , span ning the gene rat ions from chil dren to grandpa rent s they ca n all have a go at mak- ing healthy, tasty drinks from fresh fruit while keeping fit at the same time . Let’s hope the weather is kind to us for once and cold drinks can be the order of the day. The fo od hall wi ll be open throu gho ut the day fro m 9am, so come along to enjoy a nibble.  You’ll be amazed at the array of top-notc h products on offer with a chance to talk to each producer and hear their backgroun d story.
