2. Background
The Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC) is the new mandatory emissions trading scheme, starting in April of this year.
By now, you are probably aware of the scheme whether you are impacted or not. In summary it is likely to affect some 19,000 companies who are supplied with electricity by a settled half-hourly meter, of which some 5,000 will be full participants i.e. those organisations that have at least one half hourly meter (HHM) and generate more than 6,000Mwh of electricity. Broadly, if your energy bill is more than 500k per year you are likely to be a full participant.
Organisations cannot afford to not take this seriously - failure to comply with the scheme can result in financial penalties, punitive fines or even prison!

3. CRC Overhead or Opportunity?
The scheme will be viewed by some as an administrative overhead acting as a drain on cashflow, finances and resources. We at CRCommunityrecognise that it can actually be seen as an opportunity to:

reduce energy bills;

4. get more financially out of the scheme than you put in ; 5. benefit reputationally from being in the top half of the league table.
