Ensure the best results The unique characteristics of carbon electrodes allow them to carrylarge amounts of electric current at very high temperatures while maintaining excellent mechanical stability. Therefore, they are used as electric current conductors in non-ferrous arc furnaces where silicon metal, elemental phosphorus or other specialties are produced.

Custom-Made Handling Equipment Optimize your Process

In cooperation with the Piccardi company, SGL Group has developed specially designed lifting and tightening equipment for handling such large electrodes.

Balancing ringIt is used to pick up and transport carbon electrodes to the furnace. The self-lowering design permits preliminary mounting of the new electrode on top of the column.

Double tightening ringEspecially designed to tighten the new carbon electrode to the recommended torque.

SGL Group enjoys long-lasting relationships with its customers. Our wide range of services is well known and appreciated throughout the world. Our customers’ different operating conditions are carefully analyzed in order to provide the most suitable electrode grade and equipment for their use. We practice quality control with modern equipment and well-trained specialists. Technical assistance is avail-able on demand before and after the delivery of the material.

Long-Lasting Relationships and Technical Competence

Product developmentSGL Group has more than 100 years of experience in the manufac-ture and supply of carbon electrodes. Over the years we have worked to increase the quality of our amorphous carbon electrodes.

In our Technology & Innovation Center in Meitingen our continuous improvement efforts ensure that our electrodes meet the ever-growing requirements of our customers.
