Stean Durias runs his 2008 BMW M3 on sneakers! This local entrepreneur is the owner of sneakerhomme.com, a website

that reserves the most coveted kicks for its clientele. The 26 year-old’s successful business fuels the mods that go into the M3.

Born in the Philippines, Durias arrived in Las Vegas in 2000. At age 16, he got a taste of German engineering by purchasing his first car, a Volkswagen. Durias also photographed cars at different meets & shows and that’s where he initially encountered the M3. The look and the sound made the M3 a must-have for Durias!

Durias bought his M3 after he finished his undergraduate studies at UNLV. The car was purchased over a year ago and in direct correlation with the success of his shoe business, Durias started making mods over the past three months.

The M3, affectionately known as Miley, has fender flares, a carbon fiber front diffuser, and a carbon fiber trunk diffuser from Liberty Walk. The wide body fender panels are filled with aggressive 19 x 11 - 22 front and 19 x 12.5 - 55 rear Aristo Collection Sport wheels. The wheels are wrapped with 285/30R19 front and 305/30R19 rear Nitto Invo tires.

A lthough the Liberty Walk kit draws most of the attention, as it should, Miley’s other high-quality parts should

not be overlooked. Her stance is controlled by a KW V3 suspension and her interior includes custom Recaro Pole Position seats and a BMW Performance LED steering wheel. The RPI exhaust system allows Stean to hear the M3’s V8 sing all the way to its 8000+ RPM redline.

The body and paint duties were handled by LTMOTORWERKS in L.A. Stean’s original plan was to change the BMW paint color from the stock gray to Porsche’s Signal Green but with his red interior, Durias remembers thinking that his car would look like a Christmas tree. The paint job was supposed to be completed before Bimmerfest 2014.

With the date looming, Durias received a call from one of his friends, who visited the shop, because he didn’t see the green BMW anywhere. The next day, Dur ias v is i ted to check on the progress of h is car. Instead of green, LTMOTORWERKS painted the car bright red and that design decision was appreciated by Durias, “ I wanted red because I thought it would pop out more.” Durias likes that the color brings out the M3’s aggressiveness. Durias’ future plans for the M3 include a super charger and air suspension.

Stean would like to thank Long at LTMOTORWERKS. According to him, Long “Pretty much got me going with the whole build and stuff with my car.” Durias would also like to thank Manu from Aristo Collections for supplying his wheels and Evolve for tuning his car.

2008I N F I N I T I G 3 7 S

I t isn’t often that a person can put all of their effort and love into more than one passion, let alone have them go hand-in-hand with each other. Henry Do, who’s been in the U.S. Air Force for eight years, has traveled all over the world. With that

kind of itinerary, it only made sense to try and capture every skyline, every building, and every moment in a photograph. It didn’t take him long to realize that the cell phone quality photos he was taking just weren’t cutting it. Henry knew it was time to invest in a DSL-R and picked up his new Nikon D800. The photo quality difference was clear and his passion for photography began as he grabbed his camera and ran with it!

Henry grew up in Las Vegas and more recently, he’s returned home to the Nellis Air Force Base with his gorgeous Infiniti G37S. Much like any other car enthusiast, the scene piqued his interest at a very young age and the beautiful cars around town only pushed him further to be a part of it. Henry previously owned a Chameleon Nissan 350z and he always favored the VQ engine family. But much like a cell phone quality photo, the Nissan 350z just didn’t cater to all of his needs as time went by. He wanted something more than just a two-seater and he wanted a ride for his entire family with more portability and practicality. Naturally, he didn’t want to compromise his love of a sporty car for pure functionality, so he loves the Infiniti G37S.

A proud owner for less than a year, Henry immediately started modifying it. Aside from having an amount of carbon fiber one can only dream of, Henry especially fell in love with his custom Ironman LED headlights from ONEightyNYC. But there’s more to be excited about in the near future, as he has every intention of getting his Infiniti supercharged and installing air suspension.

Until then, you can find him at Cars & Coffee, a few upcoming car shows, or you guessed it, taking photos of his ride! Even though this car is driven daily, Henry, who is pretty put together himself, keeps his Infiniti clean at all times; a true reflection of his personality.

Henry would like to thank Chris’ Auto Service for working alongside him on this build.

F or this issue of Project be:CALM, we wanted to take a minute to do a quick update on where Lauder Corea’s 2014 Mitsibushi Lancer Evolution is. Since we’ve last caught up with you all,

Lauder has since upgraded his taillights to a more stylish aftermarket version you see before you. It’s a small improvement, but definitely a step closer to becoming a real showstopper.

However, that’s not all Carbon has in store for you. Lauder has also recently picked up a new sponsorship with DSG Performance, an automotive performance parts distributor. This is yet another addition to the amazing list of sponsors and supporters for his build.

With that said, we have some JDM goods on the way. Excited? So are we! Stay tuned!

Until then, check out what DSG Performance has to offer at:www.DSGPerformance.com

Tell us about yourself.Well, I’m originally from Iowa, moved to Vegas in 1998, have been here ever since and… I’m awesome!

Do you have any interesting hobbies? I love riding dirt bikes, along with performing on aerial silks and doing pole fitness.

So, what’s your biggest pet peeve? People who don’t use their common sense. You have it for a reason, that’s why it’s called “common.” It drives me nuts!

Now, what do you do for work?Right now, I do hair and makeup. However, I’m going to school to become a Medical Assistant and should be starting that new career in December.

What was your worst job?Well, my first job was at Crocs in the outlet mall. I mean, it wasn’t terrible. I’ve never had a bad job that I was so miserable at, so that’s cool.

What cars have you owned? My first car was a 1995 Chevy Cavalier… wrecked that. Then I had a PT Cruiser, rocked that ‘til I was 21. I bought my first manual transmission car, which was a Mini Cooper S, it’s the coolest car ever. I then traded that for a Nissan 370z Nismo, my all-time favorite car. I then had a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, a.k.a. Shevo (gotta keep that alive!), but recently got rid of that. Now I have a 2014 Nissan Juke.

Do you have a dream car?In all honestly, I would love to just have my Nismo Z back. But a dream car? There’s no car that I’m like “Oh my god! I have to have that!” other than my Z. I mean, I’d take an R8 or a Maybach, driver included.

What’s one thing you want to accomplish?Just overall success in life. I define that as not stressing over bills, knowing all the bills can just come out of my account and not have to worry about it. That, along with having free time to travel and be happy.

What’s your favorite food?Oh food! While I absolutely love fast food and junk food, I’ve been on a health kick lately. So my favorite thing right now, I would say are lettuce turkey wraps. But, really? Pizza!

Three words to describe yourself?Awesome. Outgoing. Obnoxious.

Any Thank You’s?Those of you at Carbon Magazine because you’re all rad. My big brother for putting me into the car scene. If he had never been so crazy having 8 bajillion cars, I wouldn’t have had an interest in them. My boyfriend, for being a good support system, and my Mom for having me.

M ost car enthusiasts rarely admit their interest in cars came about because of someone else. Likewise, most drag and show winners would like others to believe

their accolades and accomplishments were all due to their own hard work and nothing more. Everyone has their own version of how they became involved in the car scene, but one thing holds true for everyone; they never did it alone.

Take 24 year-old Kimberly Gabayan for example, whose interest in cars began with a simple fad and eventually evolved into a lifestyle. Both a student and a Pharmacy Technician from Hawaii, Gabayan’s interest in cars reflects back to her teen years. As an only child, she had only her cousins to turn to as a relatable age group. Her cousin, Rick, owned an Integra at the time and her fascination with cars blossomed shortly after. Not satisfied with her boring 2003 4-door Honda Civic, she upgraded to a coupe, but her heart really belonged to the ’99 Integra that was so very reminiscent of her cousin’s. Her parents, not willing to yield to the older Integra, decided to get her the 2004 Acura RSX you see before you –good choice, mom and dad!

Although Gabayan wasn’t ecstatic about the car at first, she grew to love the car that would later bear the fruits of her labor. The fruits in question, namely the healthy amount of mods done on her car, were possible not only due to her own diligence as an enthusiast, but also because she had a little help. Her boyfriend also happened to be into cars and is credited for inspiring her the most on her choice of mods. Heck, he was even responsible for building her custom motor! What culminated from their hard work became the dream car she could both race in and take to shows. Besides working on the interior to mirror the JDM type-R, the Acura is exactly what Gabayan envisioned when she first started working on it. Ultimately, her hard work paid off, but she didn’t do it alone, and she’ll be the first to remind you.

Kim would like to thank her boyfriend, Brandon Sanchez, and her mother, for finally buying her manual transmission car and allowing her to learn. Also, she’d like to thank all of her friends, and especially dirtysanchezgarage and FN Werkz.
