Carmel Middle School Clarinet Ensemble 2018-2019 What is a Clarinet Ensemble/Chamber Music group? Chamber music is composed for a group of musicians that can range from 3 members to 20 members. Groups can be like-instruments or mixed instruments. Chamber music has been described as more conversational than large performing ensembles and is like music between friends. It teaches musical independence, musical give and take and how to work as a team for a common goal- creating memorable and exciting performances for an audience! Who can join? Any student who plays the clarinet or bass clarinet and has been playing their instrument for at least 1 year. Members must also like food and hanging out with Mrs. Mac. When do we meet? After school on Mondays from 3:15-4:05 p.m. in Mrs. Mac’s room. We will rehearse starting on Monday, October 15. Due to a few faculty meetings, there a few Monday’s that we will not meet. Two weeks before Solo & Ensemble contest in February we will have two Thursday rehearsals instead of Monday’s. These will be considered dress rehearsals for the contest and should not be missed. A detailed calendar can be found at the bottom of this sheet. Is there an audition to be in the group? No! All interested students are included. Can I be in Jazz Band and/or Pep Band and be in the Clarinet Ensemble? Of, course! We work rehearsal schedules so that band students can participate in all enembles. When do we perform? Can I be on sports teams and other activities and be in the WW Ensemble? Yes! You will receive the music for the year and be able to practice outside of rehearsals. I will also work with your coaches /sponsors so that you can do both! We can always work around your schedule.
I’m hungry- how can you help me get food? Good news!!! Every clarinet ensemble practice ends with a treat provided by one member We also have a sundae party at the end of the season!!!!
