Budget will assess a frequent traveler surcharge equivalent to $.75 USD/day of the rental. (US Airways and Southwest Airlines travelers will be assessed a frequent traveler surcharge equivalent to $1.00 USD/day of the rental). The amount assessed is collected by Budget to offset a portion of Budget's annual cost of participation in these frequent traveler programs. The frequent flyer surcharge will be calculated based on federal excise tax expense incurred by Budget when it purchases miles from American Airlines. Under the tax relief act of 1997, all companies that purchase frequent flyer miles from airlines must pay a 7.5% excise tax on the cost of those miles (approximately $.06 USD/rental day). Frequent flyer mileage taxes and surcharges apply.
