    Operating with differenthead unitsYou can control this product by connecting aPioneer head unit (sold separately). The fol-lowing describes how to operate this productwith the head unit. In the diagrams anddescription, DEH-P6700MP is used as theexample head unit.

    Notes

    When using this product with the headunits marked *2, these units will beunable to display the characters correctlyon the units sub display (LCD display).

    When using this product with unitsmarked *3, be sure to update the naviga-tion systems software program using thelatest map disc CNDV-50MT [CNDV-50MTP] (sold separately) to utilize trafficand data functionality.

    This product cannot be used with anyhead units other than those listed below.Functionality with head units other thanthose listed below may be limited, or notfunctional at all. Pioneer does not supportor guarantee the functionality of this prod-uct with head units other than those listedbelow.

    Head unit group 1When using GEX-P10XMT with the follow-ing head units, operation is the same as forDEH-P6700MP. Operate according to theinstructions in this operation manual.

    Introduction of advancedtuner operation

    Function displayShows the function status.

    Press FUNCTION to display the func-tion name.Press FUNCTION to display the followingfunction:MODE (Channel select mode) To return to the XM display, press BAND.

    Switching the channelselect modeWhen selecting a channel, you can switchbetween selecting a channel by channelnumber or by channel category. Initially, channel number select mode isselected.

    1 Press FUNCTION to select MODE.Press FUNCTION until MODE appears in thedisplay.

    2 Press or to select the desiredchannel select mode.Press or repeatedly to switch betweenthe following settings:CH NUMBER (Channel number selectmode)CATEGORY (Channel categoryselect mode)

    Note

    Depending on the head unit you are using, itmay be possible to directly switch between thechannel select mode using the allocated button(e.g. CLOCK). For details, refer to the manual ofthe head unit.

    XM tuner

    Listening to XM

    These are the basic steps necessary to oper-ate the XM.

    XM channel select setting indicatorShows what channel select setting hasbeen selected. CH.No is displayed whenCH NUMBER is selected, and CAT is dis-played when CATEGORY is selected.

    XM channel number indicator Shows to which XM channel number thetuner is tuned to.

    XM band indicatorShows the XM band which has beenselected.

    XM preset number indicatorShows what XM preset has been selected.

    XM channel nameShows the channel name of broadcastchannel.

    1 Press SOURCE to select a XM source.

    2 Press BAND to select a band.Press BAND until the desired band is dis-played, XM1, XM2 or XM3.

    3 Press or to select the desiredchannel.The channel number moves up or down suc-cessively.Channels that cannot currently be selectedare skipped, and the next channel isselected. If you press and hold or , you canincrease or decrease channel number continu-ously. You can also select a channel from a desiredchannel category. (Refer to Switching thechannel select mode.)

    4 Press SOURCE and hold until the headunit turns off or press SOURCE to selectanother source.

    Notes

    When you turn the power on, change thesource to XM tuner, or select a channel, itmay take a few seconds while this unitacquires and processes the satellite signalbefore you can hear anything.

    Depending on the head unit, it may be possi-ble to switch to channel number direct inputmode using the allocated button on theremote control (e.g. DIRECT). For details,refer to the manual of the head unit.

    XM tuner

    Power supply for this unitThe method for turning this units powersupply ON/OFF differs according to otherunits you combine with it.

    When combining this unit witheither AVIC-D1, AVIC-N1, or AVIC-N2: This units power supply can be turned

    OFF only if the ignition switch is turnedOFF.If for any reason you want to switchthe power of the unit OFF, switch the vehi-cles ignition off (turn the ACC of yourvehicle to OFF).

    When combining with another headunit (or AV head unit): When the head units power supply is OFF,

    this unit is also OFF. (Selecting a sourceother than XM tuner will not turn thisproduct off.)

    This units power supply can be turnedOFF if the ignition switch is turned OFF. Iffor any reason you want to switch thepower of the unit OFF, switch the vehiclesignition off (turn the ACC of your vehicle toOFF).

    Selecting the XM source

    1 Press SOURCE to turn the head uniton.

    2 Press SOURCE to select XM source.Press SOURCE repeatedly to switch betweenthe following sources:XM tunerTunerTelevisionDVDplayer/Multi-DVD playerBuilt-in CDplayerMulti-CD playerExternalunit 1External unit 2AUX

    Note

    To quit listening to the XM tuner, pressSOURCE to switch to another source or pressSOURCE and hold until the head unit turns off.

    XM tuner

    Storing and recalling chan-nelsIf you press any of the preset tuning buttons16 you can easily store up to six channelsfor later recall with the touch of a button. Memory and recall are for broadcasts. If

    you recall a memorized broadcast thathas been moved to another channel, thechannel to which the broadcast wasmoved is selected.

    When you find a channel that youwant to store in memory, press one of thepreset tuning buttons 16 and hold untilthe preset number stops flashing.The number you have pressed will flash in thepreset number indicator and then remain lit.The selected channel has been stored inmemory.The next time you press the same preset tun-ing button, the channel is recalled frommemory.

    Notes

    Up to 18 channels, six for each of the threeXM bands, can be stored in memory.

    When channel number select mode isselected, you can also use up and to recallchannels assigned to preset tuning buttons16.

    If a channel you have recalled cannot beselected, a message is displayed for 2 sec-onds and the unit returns to the operatingstatus before the channel was recalled.

    Switching the XM displayXM channels each have a channel numberand channel name. XM programing alsocarries the song or program title, the artistname and category when available.

    Additional Information

    Selecting the channel in thechannel categoryChannels are organized into various programcategories, e.g. Rock, Classic, Jazz. You cansearch between different categories, andthen search among channels within eachchannel category.

    1 Select the channel category selectmode. (Refer to Switching the channelselect mode above.)

    2 Press BAND to return to the previousdisplay.

    3 Press up or to select the desiredchannel category.Once you select a channel category, the unitsearches for channels in that category.During search, the channel category doesntimmediately change even if you press thebutton. To successively change the channelcategory, continue pressing the button.

    4 Press or to select the desiredchannel in the selected channel category.The channel number moves up or down inthe selected channel category.Channels that cannot currently be selectedare skipped, and the next channel in thatchannel category is selected.

    Note

    If you select a channel of another category bychannel recall, etc., during steps 3 and 4, thecategory selected in step 3 still remains inmemory. If you press or , the channel num-ber moves up or down in the category selectedin step 3 regardless of the category of the pre-sent channel.

    Display the ID code (RadioID)Each XM tuner is identified with a uniqueRadio ID. You will need the Radio ID whenactivating XM service or when reporting aproblem. How to display the ID code dependson the channel select mode.

    Note

    Carefully check your XM Radio ID. The letters F,I, O, and S are not used.

    Channel number select modeIf you select CH 000, the ID code is displayed.

    Press or to select the channelnumber zero (CH 000).

    Channel category select modeRADIO ID is provided as a channel categoryfor displaying the ID code.

    Press up or to select the RADIO IDfrom channel category.

    Notes

    If you select another channel, display of theID code is canceled.

    Display of the ID code repeats displayingRADIO ID and the ID code one after theother.
