renowned talk show hosts, Jimmy Kimmel.

• Jimmy Kimmel serves as host and executive

producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live, ABC Television

Network's late-night talk show.

• With millions of watchers worldwide, this was an

influential piece of marketing used in making the

motion-picture a hit in the box office.

• As well as promoting the title on his talk show, Jimmy Kimmel also introduced one of the main stars in the production onto his talk show to discuss his role in the movie.

• The actor introduced was BarkhadAbdi who had received an Oscar nomination for his supporting role in the movie which we later went on to win. The limo-driver turned movie star received a lot of credit for his role in the film and his story of how we gained the role was one that intrigued the audience.

Old School

• Another use of marketing used by the distributors of Captain Phillips was the use of Billboards. This old school technique is a common theme to movie advertisement as it can be displayed on large landscapes such as the following below.

• Another old school style of marketing is the simple posters pictured on social networking sights, the internet and in magazines. These are designed to capture the audience and for them to show an interest into the movie.

• Another classic use of marketing was the use of Interviews. Interviews are conducted with the producers and starts in the film to give an audience an insight into what they are watching.
