Peter Pan is a story we are all familiar with, but never has it been seen like this. I
wanted us to live in our own Neverland, a world inside the imagination of a child, and
our play there has sparked a beautiful collaboration, each cast and production team
member bringing ideas and talent that come together on the stage to make a show that
makes me laugh and touches my heart. I have been blown away by the energy and
creativity of this cast, and am so grateful to the talents of those who helped me direct
them. If you enjoy watching it half as much as I have enjoyed working on it, you are
in for a big treat.
Message from the Director
SynopsisPeter Pan fed Captain Hook’s hand to the crocodile and Hook wants revenge. The
Pirates ponder perilous plots while the First Nations and Lost Daughters send Peter
Pan to London hunting for a mother. Enter Sweet Wendy, nervous Michael and Dotty
the Dame. They land in Neverland and the chaos begins as we bring the usual
Pantomime twists to this classic tale. Peter Puns, silly songs and epic battles will
abound, so cheer the good guys and boo the villains as we set sail for a night of
swashbuckling, slapstick fun.
Captain Hook’s Revenge
I am immensely thankful to William Kael-a-a-nexw Nahanee for being our cultural
advisor for this production. Kael-a-a-nexw, he tells me, means “the person who listens
and does something” which is very fitting, as he listened to our desire to represent the
First Nations culture in an authentic way, and he never stopped doing things to add a
very real west coast flare to the show. As an elder of the Squamish nation and a
cultural teacher at the Hiwus Feast house at Grouse Mountain, he has shared with us
his music, his paddles, drums, and more, all while bringing his own theatrical flare to
his character. The Eagle song and Warrior song performed in this production are
owned and shared by Kwel-a-a-nexw and the Nahanee family.
Thank You to our Cultural Advisor
