At CAPiTA, we get fan mail all the time. Like pretty much every day. And when I say fan mail, I don’t mean emails or Facebook messages. I mean pen on paper, handwritten, love-letter type fan mail.

The essence of each snowboard is its core. The core, in large part, will determine the overall characteristics of a given snowboard, even before one sheet of fiberglass is laid across it. Each CAPiTA deck starts off with a wood core, tip-to-tail, rail-to-rail, allowing for uniform flex, greater control of turn initiation, and incredibly fast response.

The FORM 6-C BLACK glass configuration consists of 612g/m2 biaxial fiberglass laminated in conjunction with dual fleece additives to increase energy and durability. This progressive glass configuration is laid up wet by hand during the lamination process. All of these boards feature multiple shape specific 30mm carbon fiber beams to increase power output from the boards shape.

FORM 6-C BLACK

The FORM 6 glass configuration consists of 612g/m2 biaxial fiberglass placed on both the base and topside of the construction at zero and 90 degree angles. This configuration results in a board that initiates turns easily, while retaining the pop necessary to handle variable conditions. CONSTRUCTION At CAPiTA, we use only the highest quality materials available though a partner-ship with the most respected factory in snowboarding. We have built a sound reputation for quality products, with shelf appeal, and exceptional ride-ability. Our standards for quality control are the highest in the industry and our perfor-mance in relation to price tag is simply unmatched. For the all-new 11/12 CAPiTA collection we have refined our technical design while implementing innovative shaping theories and materials, once again, setting the standard for freestyle specific snowboard construction.

FIBERGLASSCONFIGURATIONS

In order to control the torsional and longitudinal flex of our boards, we use perimeter-weighted glass lamination to ensure the proper resin to glass ratio is accurately calculated. This process eliminates potential dry spots, preventing delamination and insuring no weight is added from excess resin. All CAPiTA boards are made with one of the following glass configurations.


SPECIAL BLEND EVO TECH The SPECIAL BLEND EVO TECH configuration is an optimum blend of triaxial and biaxial glass weaves. The triax is placed on the topside maximizing torsional rigidity. The biaxial glass is situated underneath the core along with four independent basalt load bars placed vertically to enhance pop and power in a reverse camber configuration.

SPECIAL BLEND EVO TECH is a wet lay-up process that uses a polyurethane component requiring lower consumption of energy and yielding high technical properties. This adhesion process improves the factory working environment as it does not contain some of the same harsh chemical characteristics as other factory resins used around the world.

The CUSTOM WEAVE – BASALT glass configuration consists of perimeter-weighted fiberglass placed on both the base and topside of the core with an exclusive epoxy resin system. This glass configuration borrowed from the marine industry yields stronger, stiffer qualities allowing us to decrease the wood core thickness. This means you get a lighter board while achieving higher energy return. For The Black Snowboard of Death we’ve added basalt wings from inserts to contact points for retained power and pop. Originating from solidified volcanic lava, basalt is an abundant resource long known for it’s thermal proper-ties, strength, and durability.

TECH FEATURES IVBASE MATERIALS There are two basic types of base material used in our industry: extruded and

sintered. If you don’t like to wax often, but you do repair your base when neces-sary, extruded is for you. If you are more interested in going faster, longer, sintered is your base.

SIDECUT This attribute is the arc on which your board turns. All CAPiTA boards are made with one of three sidecuts

RADIAL Radial sidecut is a single radius design causing your board to start and finish a turn on the same arc.

NEW AGE DIRECTIONAL A true progressive sidecut consists of two or more radii blended together to accommodate the three stages of a turn. They provide easy turn initiation, while offering greater control and stability throughout the turn, and maximum power when exiting. Our New Age Directional sidecuts incorporate Death Grip™ – a reverse sidecut arc in the midsection of the board. Due to a reduced effective edge as a result of hybrid camber shapes, this reverse camber arc provides a point of contact to retain consistency throughout the turn.

RADICAL TAPER Radical Taper was engineered by CAPiTA specifically for deep powder riding, this radial sidecut is complimented by a tapered tail. This narrower tail section naturally sinks in the powder while wider nose section floats above the snow line. The result is less work and more fun as the board surfs on one smooth continual arc.

FLEX RATINGS Technology integrated into snowboard construction affects many characteristics of a board’s performance. Flex, along with weight, stability, energy and other factors come into play when considering whether a board is right for you. Flex may also be the most important because it will determine how you will be able to manipulate your board on snow. Soft, flexible boards are great for jibbing and making your snowboard do what you want, when you want. They’re easy to ride and very forgiving. Stiffer boards have more pop, more energy, and more stability at high speeds but they require more effort and skill from the rider.

All boards in this catalog are rated on a scale from 1 to 10. The number given is the estimated resistance the board would provide to the average customer.

1 would be the resistance of a noodle, 10 would be the resistance of a tree trunk.

FLAT KICKTECHNOLOGY

With the level of hype surrounding the reverse camber revival, it’s clear that this snowboard design theory is here to stay. However, it’s how that theory is actually applied that will differentiate board designs and make one ride better than another.

With Flat Kick design technology we’ve tightened the profile radius that blends the shoulders of the board into the tip and tail height. This is a key area that influences the tempo and feel of turn initiation. With traditional larger tip and tail arcs, the loaded camber contributes to a board’s acceleration into a turn. On reverse camber boards the contact points are elevated, removing this camber contribution. As a result, the same traditional tip and tail radii would make the board feel sluggish. Specialized Flat Kick tip and tail arcs combined with elevated reverse camber contact points achieve the ideal tempo into turns. This allows you to have the shorter effective edge of a forgiving, easy to ride, reverse camber snowboard that is still responsive and quick edge to edge.


These bases have very similar qualities to the Rotation Sintered speed base, but are built using 100-percent recycled sintered speed base material. This is another technology that provides the highest performance while allowing CAPiTA to be at the forefront of responsible manufacturing.

We use a classic, time proven, extruded base for two of our classic, time proven, board shapes. True to all extruded bases, these are low maintenance, user friendly bases that perform well with or without your constant waxing and attention. The HMC Extruded is a special “high molecular composition” base that is more dense, durable, and abrasion resistant than standard extruded bases. The result is a hard, fast, and reliable base that will get you where you want to go, and get there fast.

These bases are created by taking pellets of ultra-high-molecular-weight Polyethylene and compressing them through heat and pressure. The miniscule spaces left behind absorb wax and allow for extended periods of high speed shredding as the wax wicks to the surface while you ride. This prevents your base from drying out and keeps the surface feeling freshly waxed throughout the day. Properly maintained sintered bases are fast, durable, and the overwhelming choice of pro snowboarders worldwide.

Extruded base material responds differently than sintered due to its lower molecular weight. This type of base is the easiest to maintain and excels in park attacks and urban jibbing. It repairs easily and when waxed, extruded base material will provide excellent performance.

But let’s get back to hangovers. If you are riding hard pack, groomed runs, or terrain parks, cambered boards can kick your ass. Especially if they’re too stiff for you.

Our reverse camber Flat Kick boards make your life better by eliminating the need to load camber. The base is level for various lengths depending on the version and intent of the board. This creates stability for going straight and fast on a flat base. The contact points are elevated, and each Flat Kick tip and tail radius provides effortless turn initiation.

For beginner to intermediate hard pack riders this means an easy to ride board that turns on a dime, and never catches an edge.

For advanced to professional level jibbers this means no catching an edge on your way to that scary double kinked handrail, and a board that’s pre-positioned for pressing and progressive rail tricks.

Whatever your style we have your back. For 11/12 we offer both cambered and reverse camber Flat Kick boards at multiple price points. Basically, if your riding style generally includes going bigger and faster we recommend the time tested cambered version. If your riding style usually involves either a great deal of jibbing, powder riding, or you’re just looking for a more forgiv-ing easy to ride board, we recommend the reverse camber Flat Kick version.

Reverse camber is the hottest trend our industry has seen in a long time for one simple reason: It makes snowboarding easier.

We like to say it’s perfect for hangovers, ‘cause after a big night we usually don’t want to try very hard. We certainly don’t want to catch an edge and make our headache worse, and we definitely don’t want to scorpion.

With reverse camber there are no scorpions, no snake bites, no sore wrists, cold butts, weird ailments, or altercations. Just you, doing more, by doing less. How is this possible? With traditional boards, energy must be exerted to flex the board to a point where the camber is flattened before a turn is initiated. At this point the board can turn along its natural arc, and the loaded camber puts pressure on the contact points of the nose and tail allowing them to cut through the terrain. The loading and unloading of camber creates energy and acceleration into and out of each turn while providing stability and control in the mid section.

This is why cambered boards are awesome. They give you power and control. If you’re a competitive pipe rider, a true all terrain variable condition rider, or a balls to the wall speed demon, you want a time tested cambered snowboard for sure. Most of the top pros still ride cambered snowboards, and we believe cambered boards are the right choice for many riders. We have retained a focus on this customer and still offer over half of our line in traditional camber including legendary boards like the “NAS”, a two time top five Transworld Snowboarding Good Wood winner. The Micro-Scope exposes fun stuff like park jumps, bumps, boxes, and freestyle terrain for smaller riders. With a convex shape, the edges are raised off the snow so smaller riders (and parents) don’t have to worry about catching an edge.
