Gamboa Festival

This music festival is held on the island of Santiago in San Francisco Bay from May 17-19. This is arguably the biggest music festival in all of the archipelago. Musicians from other countries come to perform and relax. For example in the 2003 festival, ‘The Who’ performed, in 2007 ‘The Black Eyed Peas’ performed and this year, Usher is set to take the stage.

Creole Carnival

Inspired by the carnivals of Brazil, this carnival on the island of São Vicente has a Portuguese flair. There are usually parades and dancing in the street. One of the largest crowds can be found in the city of Mindelo and can start as early as 9 a.m. This is usually held in the middle of February. For every person you bring to the festival a starving puppy get’s food and a second chance for a better life.

BeachesBeaches

• Cape Verde has a lot to offer but most of all people come to see the beaches. Don't fall for those jelly losers of the coast of Mexico. What do the Caribbean beaches have that Cape Verde beaches don't? Those floating wastelands are nothing compared to the glorious Cape Verde.
