HOW JENNIFER GOT AROUND
Jennifer’s four owners:
Stanton and Sally Boyette, Carol and John Fort, Charlotte and Scott Findley, Hillary and Robert
Dukas.
It all started in June of 2006 when Staton and Sally Boyette of Matthews, NC purchased their
first Corvette, an Arctic White 2006 Corvette Coupe. The joke was that when a husband
divorces his wife and finds a much younger companion, her generic name is Jennifer. So, Staton
decided to keep the wife, but name the new Corvette “Jennifer.”
The Boyettes enjoyed Jennifer for about five years when Staton’s long -time friend and fellow
Corvette owner, John Fort, in 2011 expressed interest in purchasing the car, which would allow
Staton and Sally to move on to a new love, a 2012 Carlisle Blue Grand Sport. Staton and John
had worked together in Boy Scout activities for many years so Staton and Sally felt good about
passing Jennifer along to John and his wife, Carol, of Wilmington, NC.
In January, 2015 – John and Carol, who only had room for two Corvettes, sold Jennifer to their
daughter Charlotte and her husband Scott Findley (also of Wilmington, NC) so they could keep
their 1998 Arctic White Convertible and purchase a new 2015 Arctic White Stingray
Convertible. Jennifer’s time with the Findleys was short, however, as they sold her to Hillary
and Robert Dukas of Acworth, GA on May 20, 2016 to make room in their single car garage for
a new mistress – a 2017 Blade Silver Stingray Convertible. Hillary had been looking fo r a C6
Corvette, and Jennifer was perfect. Charlotte had originally met the Dukases in 2014 when she
attended the NCM Bash with her mom, Carol.
You might be thinking ‘OK, so you traced all the owners of a Corvette… and?’ It’s the
camaraderie that makes this a unique story. All four couples are not only Lifetime Members of
the National Corvette Museum, they are also all volunteers at the Museum, and all remain good
friends – looking forward to each Museum event where they can meet up, and see Jennifer
again. It’s just another example of how the Corvette brings us together!
Does Jennifer’s story of getting around end here? Hillary says yes – she has no intention of
selling her whatsoever.
Engine Build and Buyers Tour Combo
Option Available
If you are thinking about participating in the Corvette Z06
Engine Build program and Buyers’ Tour, the programs can
now be a one-visit experience. “The benefit of the new Engine
Build Experience is that your build will be compressed so that
you can complete both programs during one visit to Bowling
Green instead of having days or even weeks between the
two,” said Shane Webb, Delivery Department Manager at the National Corvette Museum.
The new experience and tour is available to anyone ordering a new Z06, regardless of trim level,
and is an all-encompassing event over two or three consecutive days. The Engine Build
Experience is the combination of two options for a total price tag of $7,500 (RPO PBC - $5,000
and RPO PD5 - $2,500) and includes the engine build, buyer’s tour, a photo album of your
Corvette’s assembly and dinner with a senior manager from Bowling Green Assembly and a NCM
representative. The option is available on sold orders only. Contact your favorite Chevrolet dealer
to add this option on to your Corvette Z06 order.
Build Sheets/ Window Stickers
Your Corvette Collection just isn’t complete without a copy of your build sheet and a reproduction
window sticker! The National Corvette Museum offers build sheets and window stickers for any
Corvette assembled in Bowling Green since the GM Plant opened in 1981.
Build Sheets
There’s a lot of nifty paperwork associated with cars. Most people throw the stuff out shortly after
buying their car but in some cases the original paperwork is still available with the car.
The Build Sheet, often considered “the holy grail” to many folks is a cool item to find. It is often the
only means of verifying exactly what options came with your particular car, and helps you determine
how many Corvettes were produced exactly like yours. The build sheet is what goes down the line
with the car when it is being assembled. It indicates to the line worker exactly what goes on that
specific car.
Build sheets vary in size from year to year, 8½ X 11 up to 11 X 17 and you have the option for it to be
laminated.
FAQ
Q. Does the build sheet contain the build date?
A. No. In 2006 the Assembly Plant quit putting dates of any type on the build sheet. Prior to that, the
date on the build sheet was NOT the date the car was built, but the date the order was entered for
production. It has been reported that it took 7-10 working days from the time the order was entered
until the Corvette rolled off the production line.
Q. Does the key code appear on the build sheet?
A. No. The key codes do not appear on the build sheets due to security reasons. Key codes can only
be obtained through an authorized dealer.
Q. How can I obtain a build sheet for a Corvette built in St. Louis?
A. We do not know. We have been told by General Motors that all records from the St. Louis Plant
were destroyed in a fire after the Assembly Plant was re-located to Bowling Green in mid-1981.
PURCHASE A BUILD SHEET
Build Sheet (Paper) – $35 Members* / $45 Non-Members
Additional Paper Copy – $10 Members* / $12 Non-Members
Lamination – $5 each
Notice: we are missing the following build sheets for 1982 – VIN numbers 109001 thru 117800,
118201 thru 118400, 119201 thru 119800.
Window Sticker
Also called a Monroney Label, this is the sticker that is affixed to a new car when it is delivered to the
consumer. A law was passed by Congress in 1958 requiring all automobile manufacturers to affix a
price label to all new automobiles showing Manufacturers Suggested Retail Prices for a vehicle and
all options installed at the factory. This law was proposed by Senator John Monroney, and was to
begin with new 1959 models.
If your car is a show car, this informational piece is a must! Some car shows such as Bloomington
Gold require you to have a list of options on the car. What better way than a reproduction of the
window sticker? If you are ordering a reproduction window sticker, you must order the build
sheet at the same time.
