Who we are and what we do...

Hughes Sub Surface Engineering Limited (HSSE) is a Independant integrated

subsea service provider offering a range of services, as well as consultancy to the

Offshore, telecommunications, Power generation and marine civil engineering

sectors.

The company was founded in 2005 to provide a modern technological approach

to the Subsea diving industry, and has since grown and expanded it's capabilitys

to cover Civil Engineering, working at height, confined space and Remotely

operated technologies to its subsea services portfolio.

HSSE has a International reputation for providing independant innovative and

high quality services, Our clients appreciate our flexible and responsive service

delivering added value in the form of safe, reliable and cost-effective solutions

We have an impressive track record serving the Offshore Renewable, Power

generation, Telecommunication, large Civil engineering majors, Independants,

Key Personnel Ian Hughes, Managing Director Ian has over 20 years offshore air & saturation diving experience,. This knowledge has been gained working throughout the UK, North Sea, Caspian, Europe, the Middle East, Far East, Africa and India working for large integrated Subsea companies as a diver and supervisor in the field of Construction, Salvage & Inspection, Ian is responsible for contract management and tendering. Albert Mullard, SHEQ Manager/Advisor Albert has over 30 years experience as a experienced Health and safety practitioner, he has also been a Project manager, Diving supervisor and diver Having worked for major companies both onshore and offshore in the above roles, He is HSSE advisor on all SHEQ matters. Mark Ireland, Southern Area Manager Mark is the area manager for the south of England, He comes to HSSE from the Environment Agency where he was a diving manager for over 20 years, He runs all HSSE business in the South including contract management. Phil Keating, BSc, Company Engineer/Project Manager Phil is a professional, enthusiastic and skilled Civil Engineer with an interest and specialty in marine projects and diving works. He is fully conversant with all modern construction software packages and systems including planning and surveying. A team leader and player who has a proven track record of problem solving in the most testing of environments and project conditions,.

Stephen Middleton, Diving Superintendant Stephen has more than 26 years experience in the cable and renewable energy sector having been an offshore construction manager, Beach master, client Rep and diving supervisor, he brings considerable knowledge to any offshore renewable project Steve has a focused and productive attitude to any job

Personnel HSSE has an experianced team of proffesionals working in our offices and sites, Most members are employed on a full time basis, some are employed for specialist works on a as and when required or needed. As a result of HSSE employees working at the forfront of IMR and construction projects for the OIl & Gas, Renewables, Telecommunications and Civil Eng sectors HSSE maintains a highly qualified and experianced work force with many having a multitude of trades. HSSE is committed to the application of quality to provide services of excellence that achieve our client’s satisfaction. HSSE has a quality management system, certificated to ISO 9001:2001 , The company's philosophy regarding SHEQ is very clear; to ensure that all

employees are suitably competent to perform their duties in accordance with

these systems and policies.

During induction training all HSSE personnel and subcontractors are made aware

of the company's SHEQ policies and systems in the context of the company's

commitment to providing our customers with a quality service, whilst protecting

the environment and the safety of all those affected by our activities.

Renewables Client: Subocean Group Location: Lynn and Inner Dowsing Date January 2008 – February 2008 Specific details:

Installation of Link Lok concrete protection mattress over submarine cables from the transition piece trumpet to the burial point, vessel supply (Coastal Worker), Full offshore load including Decompression chambers and LAR systems

Client: Marine Current Turbines (MCT) Location: Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland. Date June 2008 Specific details:

HSSE was requested to assist in the installation of the cables on the Seagen project, we were also required to cut grout holes and remove a pin pile using BROCO burning and Cardox explosives, this was achieved in a very high tidal area within the required time

HSSE carried out seabed surveys and took core samples of the seabed

Client: RWE Npower Location: Rhyl Flats Offshore Wind Farm Date April 2009 Specific details:

HSSE provided a 24hr call out service to RWE, this included all remedial works, debris removal help with the cable barge plough, installation of the cables in the bell mouth, Tower, cable installation riggers.

HSSE was requested to remove a damaged cable and assist with the installation of the new cable, we were also required to bury a length of the cable in the transition zone

Client: Fugro Seacore Location: Gwynt y Mor Met Mast Date September 2009 Specific details:

HSSE was requested to remove and reinstate the boat fender and ladder system on the met mast, we supplied a specialist burning and rigging team to cut the damaged fender and install the new fender using hydrotight, we were also requested to complete seabed surveys and debris clearance.

HSSE provided all subsea works in the decommisioning of the first ever Tidal turbine, this involved a high level of skill in burning and decommisioning the project was completed successfully in 3 days.

Client: Vestas Offshore Location: Barrow Offshore Wind Farm Date November 2009 Specific details:

HSSE carried out NDT inspections using Roped Access technicians on the turbine fenders in the splash zone, this was carried out using the Wall thickness and eddy current techniques .

HSSE provided a 3 man IRATA rope access rigging team to install the piling frame under the jack up vessel Buzzard the rope access rigging team completed the works in 1 day

Client: CTC Marine (Seatrench) Location: Wavehub project Date July 2010 Specific details:

HSSE provided a 6 man dive team and all associated equipment including a decompression chamber, working inconjunction with Seatrench to pull and trench the 2 x export cable for the wave hub project using a shallow water trenching machine

HSSE provided a 16 man dive team and all associated equipment including a decompression chamber, to give cover for any eventuallity during the installation of the export and interarray cable installation this is proving a challenging experience diving in depths greater than 30m

HSSE was contracted to install a blanking plug in a 2m dia pipe this was achieved using a hydraulic bung and a specially designed blanking plate. We were then requested to repair the pipeline, including lifting each 2 ton section and placing back together using traditional techniques of lead corking, tasks included levelling of lake bed to profile, Internal video inspections of pipe blanking of penstock gate moving pipe section using lift bags.

Provided specialist dive teams to carry NDT Inspection and remedial repairs to the CW intake Seacap’s and Jetty infrastructure. Including ROV surveys of internal pipework of the stations CW system using UT and CP techniques. Cathodic Potential surveys of the impressed current system and detailed reporting.
