Stormport Professional Services Ltd installs, changes, maintains and carries out fault repairs on power distribution systems. These services are offered to DNOs, IDNOs and private network owners. We operate in three main areas:

1. Distribution substations and associated equipment

• 11kv ground mounted switchgear• 11kV/LV free standing transformers• 11kV/LV package substations• LV transformer mounted cabinets/open boards/feeder pillars • LV link boxes

2. Cable systems

• 33kV cables (solid)• 11kV cables• LV cables

3. Wood pole overhead line systems

• Standard HV BS 1320 wood pole construction• 132kV Trident construction• LV open wire construction• LV ABC construction

Scope of work

Stormport provides these associated specialist services to deliver the full package including:

• Hot glove live line team• 11kV long stick live line teams• Construction of distribution substation bases and enclosures • HV & EHV Power cable jointing for ratings up to and including 33kV • LV Cable jointing, including live jointing

Stormport has a full range of specialised plant and vehicles to provide these services in all types of environments. These include:

• 32 tonne grab lorries• 26 tonne flat bed with high lift capacity crane• 26 tonne beaver tail trucks• 32 tonne 4x4 flat bed with high lift capacity crane and pole augur• 6 tonne 360' tracked mini digger• Unimog 4×4 Arial Insulated Device (IAD) • Landrover Defender MEWPS• 1.5 tonne mini diggers• ABC winches• 3 tonne 3 drum conductor winches

Stormport’s power cable experience extends to the following installation environments:

• Brown and green field developments• NRSWA street works • Arable land• Pasture land• Private gardens• Existing substations • Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) • Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)

Our installation teams are supported by our project management and support services teams who undertake the following works:

• DNO Competition in Connection team interface• New Connection feasibility studies and quotations• Third party stakeholder management • Set up and management of F10 notifiable CDM sites• Client Relationship Management• Traffic management solutions • Production of as-built records • NRSWA noticing • The full management of pre-arranged interruptions (PAI) for DNO and

IDNO customers

Stormport works with partners to provide the capability to carry out the following:

• Preliminary and detailed electrical network design up to and including 132kV

• Network modelling in Win Debut• Protection design, install and commission• Major civil & building construction works

We are based in Ely, Cambridgeshire (CB6 3NW). This is our main facility with internal and external storage facilities and offices for directors, project managers and SAPs.

We have another facility in nearby March, Cambs which is for the civil teams and has external storage facilities for reinstatement materials and HGV parking.

We also have an office and internal storage location in Grantham, Lincs. We store cable, jointing materials, substation equipment and we have offices for project managers and SAPs.

Finally, we have an office location in Stevenage, Herts for sales and marketing and project support.

Our preference is to work in locations where we can be most responsive and efficient. Our preferred areas of operation for ICP type work are:

We have 110 staff who are all directly employed and fully authorised by Stormport for ICP work and DNOs UK Power Networks and WPD for work on their systems. These include:

• Senior Authorised Engineers to 132kV• LV/HV Authorised Project Managers• Jointers• Fitters• Linesman• Hot Glove Linesman• Civil/Reinstatement teams

We use a work management system called STORMS. This is our bespoke system based on a Microsoft Dynamics CRM Platform.

STORMS, our Work Management System performs a key role in our safety management by providing a platform for all staff to access:

• HSE information i.e DSR, Codes of Practice, Safety Bulletins• Real time delivery of work pack• Exchange of information/photos when seeking advice from

Managers/Safety team.• Reporting of Near Misses and incidents with photos• Key work stage check points

All work teams are equipped with 4G enabled tablets which wirelessly integrate with the main system in the office. This means they can access this data, 24/7, whilst at the workplace.

For ICP projects STORMS will manage these aspects:

• Initial enquiry• Account management• Quotation to contract rates where agreed• Purchase order• Project management• On site data capture for achievement reporting• Accurate applications for payment and invoicing
