Here’s one we made earlier...

2011 was a great year for our Eco-warriors - we’ve got the stats on the left to prove it. But if you’re not interested in numbers, and want to know what we’re actually capable of, here’s some we made earlier...

Hydropower Installations

Project: Romney Weir Hydropower TurbineClient: Southeast Power EngineeringSize: 300kW

Following major repair works to Romney Weir in Windsor, Jackson won the contract to install a pair of Archimedes Screw hydropower turbines on the weir. When they are commissioned, the turbines will directly supply Windsor Castle with carbon-neutral electricity.

To accommodate the turbines, the 214 year old weir had to undergo extensive modifications, which involved removing two of the weir gates completely, modifying the existing apron, and extending the weir walls.

At full capacity, the turbines will generate enough energy to power 300 homes.

Full Scale Solar FarmsProject: Westmill Solar FarmClient: Blue EnergySize: 5MW

Jackson recently completed a contract to install a 22,000 panel solar energy farm in Swindon. The farm will generate up to 5MW of electricity and will be capable of powering up to 1000 homes.

This project had a very tight deadline to meet the requirements of the Government’s ‘Feed in Tariff’ (FiT) and bring the farm online before the deadline.

With only a two month contract period, the team had to work swiftly to get the job done, and successfully met the deadline on 19 July 2011.

Commercial InstallationClient: Fynn Valley Golf ClubSize: 2.2kW

Fynn Valley Golf Club was one of 50 commercial installations carried out last year. This particular project was a 2.2kW solar PV panel system to provide energy and hot water to Fynn Valley Golf Club in Suffolk.Since installation, this modest system has produced in excess of 1000 kWh of electricity which will deliver a FiT generation payment of over £500.

Commerical InstallationClient: SavillsSize: 50kW

This project involved the installation of eight 50kW solar PV system across several sites in South Hertfordshire. The installations which include roof-top and ground-based installations on agricultural and commercial property are part of a pilot scheme for a brand new partnership with a second phase of over 75 properties being considered this year.

Commercial Installation

Client: Uxendon Manor School, HarrowSize: 15.5kW

We recently completed this complex installation of aluminium windows and doors, along with Solar Photovoltaic panels at a primary school in Harrow.

A 15.5 kW Solar PV panelling system was installed, along with 118 energy efficient ‘Smart’ aluminium windows and doors.

On-going works on a ‘live’ school environment posed significant challenges, however our installation programme successfully minimised disruption to the school.

Client: Mr MiddletonSize: 3.6kW

This is an example one of our numerous residential installations. We carried out in excess of 140 residential installations last year at a value of £1.7m. Projects were carried out across the South of England and the size of installations ranged from 2kW to 4kW.

This particular project, carried out on a house in Essex, involved the installation of 16 x 225w Polycrystalline PV panels with a Fronius inverter.

Residential Installation

Residential Installation

Client: Ms CavenderSize: 3.3kW

We recently completed this 3.3Kw residential installation on a house in Colchester. The system uses MoserBaer 230W modules and is connected to the grid via a Fronius converter housed in the loft space. The system will generate 2567 kWh per year, and will ultimately generate over £30,000 for the client through the FiT scheme.
