Message from the President
Hope you enjoyed the presentation by Paul Butcher from the Detroit Institute of Arts as much as I did. I find the stories behind the mural and the artist fascinating. We are so fortunate to have a world class museum in our backyard.
We need to start thinking about next year’s board and interest group leaders. Please consid-er joining the planning team. We have an imme-diate need for someone to fill in the secretary role for the March general and board Meeting since Mary D is enjoying time in California. Please see any board member if you can help.
In other news, don’t forget to spread the word about our club Square Dance fundraiser on April 11 and help gather donations for the raffle.
This month we will laugh as local comedian and husband of one of our member, Veena Bahn, en-tertains us at the Canton Newcomers and Neigh-bors Comedy Night. Iqbal Bahn, has entertained crowds all over the US and back home in New Delhi. All members are encouraged to bring a friend. It will be a night of fun and laughter!

Membership is holding steady at 71. We had several guests at our February meeting. Hopefully they, and the friends we’ve had at past meetings and interest groups, will be encouraged to join our illustrious crew.
March starts our ½ price membership fee. For a mere $12.50 guests can become full-fledged member and save $2.50 to get in the door at our fun-filled “Square Dance” fund-raiser and be part of all the other grand things we have planned between now and August.
Just a reminder to all members to reach out to your friends and neigh-bors and let them know about our upcoming “Square Dance” fund rais-er. The evening promises to be a lot of fun. Flyers are in the back of this newsletter with all the details. (In fact, Betty added both half & full page flyers so you can have one size to give friends and another to hang where ever they will let you!)
One member has already posted our Square Dance poster in their “Next Door.” I encourage you to do the same. If you wish a copy, I can send you the PDF to add to any communication.
Raffles and a silent auction will add to the evening and help to raise funds. A portion goes to our charity, A Journey to Housing, and the bal-ance will put money back in our budget to support things we really en-joy like making beautiful wreaths and those we don’t see like club house rent and liability insurance. Everyone’s assistance in gathering dona-tions is greatly appreciated.
Membership Report
“I may not be the most important person in your life ….I just hope that when you hear my name… you smile and say that’s my FRIEND.”
Friendship
The lucky winners were...Debbie Ritter who won the relaxing Spa package and Marilyn Messina who won the Lover’s basket. We collected $122 for a very good cause. Next month we have the 75/25 raffle. You could win 25% of the booty: Cash for a lucky member and a nice contribution to Journey of Housing.

Mom Prom
March 24th, 8 to 11 PM, Fellows Creek Golf
Its Prom time ladies, here at CNN High, and it’s even better than when we were Seniors only a few years ago:
No date is required. No men even allowed!
Dresses free, or should be. Old bridesmaid or prom dress, New Year’s Eve attire or something from Salvation Army are this prom’s formal. There’s even a tackiest dress con-test!
Alcohol will be served in the hall. No sneaking out back. Your entry fee even covers your first two drinks of wine or beer along with the appetiz-ers.
And the cost is only $40. Compare that to what other parents are paying for proms today. And proceeds from this prom benefit LiveLikeMax.*
We will even be getting together at a friend’s house to take our pictures and have a pre-party cocktail before we head to the official event!
Tickets can be bought at www.fellowscreekgolf. com/events/fellows-creek-golf-club-the-mom-prom or at our March 7thmeeting. Be sure to let Lisa Toole at ltoole48187@ yahoo.com know you’ll be attending so she can get you the details for our special pre-prom party.
*LiveLikeMax Foundation’s was started by a mother who lost her son, Max from “Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy,” an en-larged heart. The foundation provides a healthy heart screen to student athletes and works to make them a mandatory part of all high school athletic physicals.
Couples Social
Our February Couples Social was held at World of Beer and was followed by a fun night of La-ser Tag. The competitive spirit showed through once again this month! If you and your guest have not yet tried our Friday night events, we really want to see you. This event is for all, not just couples, so don’t be shy and feel free to bring a friend.
For March, we are heading to Super Bowl in Canton for a night of bowling. Please join us on March 23rd at 7:00 p.m. Our sign-up sheet will be available at our General Meeting or you can email or call us.

After landing a stand-up comedy gig at New York City's former Laugh Factory in 2008, Iqbal Singh Bahn's friends called him the Sikh world's Jerry Seinfeld. And there are some good reasons: both came from immi-grant families, both made their starts in New York City and both make people laugh. Alt-hough Jerry started his career as a standup comedian fresh out of college, Bahn didn’t put his humor on stage until, at 68, he retired from his career in engineering.
With the stage name Bali Bahn, Veena’s hus-band has made people laugh from New York City to Dallas, Texas; Los Angeles to Washing-ton, DC; from his birthplace in New Delhi, In-dia to regular performances at Joey’s Comedy Club formerly in Livonia.
Bahn uses his Sikh attire, especially his tur-ban, to make audiences laugh, dispel misconcep-tions and break down cul-tural barriers. “I don’t use profanity, and simply do what comes naturally, without hurting anyone’s feelings. My aim is to in-
troduce the audiences to a full-blooded Sikh-American living in America,” says Bahn. (http://balibhan.com)
“Bali” will be joining Veena at our March 7th meeting as we turn the club house into our own Comedy Club. You’ll definitely want to bring a friend to help laugh in Spring.
