Frmware is a free software upgrade that youcan install on your Canon D-SLR to improve itsperformance and add new features. You 'll needan internet connection to down oad an update, and amemory card to load it onto your camera .

Some firmware updates apply minor tweaks or bugfixes, while more substantial updates can give your

camera a whole new lease of life, as is the case withthe EOS ?D firmware version 2.0 .3 update, which we'llbe installing in this tutorial. The big attraction of thisupdate is that it gives the 70 a higher maximum burstrate- up to 25 Raw files or 130JPEGs. STEP BY STEP Download and install firmwarecanon--------

Download the finnware11 Go to www.canon.co.uk, click on Products andSolutions, then select Digital InterchangeableLens Cameras. Find your D-SLR. Choose Supportand Down oad, and c lick the Down oad tab. ChooseFirmware from the menu, and down oad theappropriate firmware (Mac or PC ) to your computer.

Copy finnware to memory card~ Format your memory card in your camera. then& plug it into your computer (via a memory cardreader, if necessary). Open the downloaded firmwarefile, and copy the file directly into the memory card's'root directory'- the window that first appears whenyou open th e memory card. Don't copy the firmwareto any sub-fold ers.

Install the finnware111'1 Turn on your D-SLR and set the Exposure mode.. ial toP; make sure th e battery is fully charged,as a power failure during installation may disable yourcamera. Insert the memory card . Press the Menubutton, go to the last yellow tool menu. navigate downto Firmware Ver.X.X.X at bottom of the screen andpress Set. The firmware update will appear. Select OKto begin the update.

Complete the installation11 Don't press any buttons during the installation.When the update is comp lete. turn your cameraoff, take out the battery for at least two seconds, th enput the battery back in and turn the camera back on.Format your memory card before using it again.
