Faith Formation and Parish Council Updates
As I announced last weekend at Mass, we are preparing for our first session of faith formation in the summer. Below is the information I announced last weekend. One point I’m driving home is that space is limited, so early registration is important.
Second, I have a print-out introducing council renewal in the cluster. This renewal impacts pastoral councils, finance councils, and facility committees in the cluster. Because this renewal plan is a big change, I will be explaining this over several weeks.

We are excited to announce Summer Faith Formation 2019!
Summer Faith Formation will be held June 10-21 during the week in the morning. It will at Greater Grace Charter Academy (no cluster church site could accommodate 230 children at once)
It will take the place of Our Lady of Peace faith formation classes for 2019-2020• The grades for summer faith formation will be incoming 1st
through 9th graders. Incoming 10th and 11th grades will still have classes during the year, schedule TBD
• We will still have faith formation during the year between St James and St Philip for those who cannot attend during the summer
• It is open to children in the three cluster parishes, but space will be limited.
We have started to work with local coaches to allow athletes to attend summer training camps and faith formation
Registration will be February 25 and 26 during faith formation classes at the three churches • After these dates, registration will be online only• A spot is reserved when we have your info and payment• Space is limited, so parents need to register early to secure a spot\
Cost will be determined by mid February

Wedding Anniversary Celebration Couples celebrating their 25th, 50th, 65th (or more) wedding anniversary will be honored at Mass followed by a reception with Bishop Duca Sunday, February 10, 2019 at 2pm at St. George church in Baton Rouge. Please register with your church parish by January 30, 2019 so that your certificates can be made.
Lunches Being Sold Knights of Columbus Council 11857 will hold its annual fundraiser dinner on Sun., Feb. 3. Lunches will consist of baked chicken, rice dressing, corn and salad for $9 per plate. These will be take-out meals only. Pick-up begins at 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon at Our Lady of Peace Church Hall. Court Notre Dame de la Paix Catholic Daughters will have their annual Tea Cookie fundraiser.
Catholic Daughters Essay Contest Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Philip #1504 is taking part in a National Catholic Daughters’ Education Contest. The themes selected for the contest encourage lively imagination and freedom of thought when student talent and application go hand in hand. The contests enable students of our communities, schools and CCD
classes to compete and strive for awards while following certain rules. The choices of categories are Art, Essay, Poetry, Poster, Computer Art, Music and Photography. Entries should be submitted to Maggie Loup by Friday, January 21, 2019. For more information, contact Maggie Loup at 265-2441.

Knight of Columbus Scholarship Opportunities K of C Councils 1514 and 11857 are sponsoring scholarship contests for Catholic high school seniors. Each council will select one boy and one girl to send to the next level of competition. Students from Our Lady of Peace Parish are asked to submit their applications to Council 11857 and students from St. James and St. Philip
parishes are asked to submit their applications to Council 1514. You can access the applications and instructions www.louisianakc.org by clicking on Catholic Youth Leadership.
