Girl Scout Open House D B J C S A F Choose Girl Scout Girl Zone Day Camps for your informal enrichment activities and childcare needs this summer. Space can be secured in any of these camps with a $25 deposit. The full amount is due three weeks prior to camp. Receive a special discount of $10 off per camp by reserving your space by March 5th for Spring Break Adventure Day Camp and May 1st for all other Summer Girl Zone Day Camps. Each camp week will feature a field trip. Participants may be dropped off as early as 7:30 am and picked up as late as 6:00 pm each day. Main program activities occur from 9 am - 4:30 pm daily. Early bird and late bird activities will be available to supplement the experience. All Girl Zone Day Camps have a Min 10/Max 30 girls. Volunteers are needed for our camps. Camp Fit & Fabulous June 6 - 10, 2016 Exercise your mind and body during this exciting, action-filled camp! Learn about the importance of fitness and nutrition. Camp Around the World in Five Days June 13-17 2016 Travel the globe on a glorious five-day whirlwind fantasy tour! Explore the world and learn about the cultures and traditions of lands far away. Play games from Africa, create exotic crafts from Asia, and enjoy delicious snacks from South America. So grab your passport and climb aboard the Girls Zone Express to begin the trip of a lifetime. $120 if registered by May 1st; $130 after that. Register by May 23rd. I Art June 20-24, 2016 Let your imagination soar and self-expression abound during this year’s art camp! Explore the works and styles of famous artists in search for inspiration for your own projects. Challenge yourself to create art in variety of ways, including painting, drawing, using clay and more! $120 if registered by May 1st; $130 after that. Register by May 31st. Tinker Girls June 27-July 1, 2016 Tinker, Invent and Build! You’ll spend a week dedicated to playing and creating things. Make a straw/balloon rocket, a battery-powered dancer, or a cascading, cartwheeling sculpture. Try your hand at robotics, digital arts, duct tape designs, woodworking, and more. You are guaranteed to have a Whizz! Pop! Bang! sort of week! $120 if registered by May 1st; $130 after that. Register by June 6th. Kamp Kitchenistas July 5-8, 2016 Enjoy a culinary adventure at camp. Whether you’re a chef in the making or a newbie in the kitchen, you’ll enjoy making delicious meals, satisfying snacks, and dazzling desserts. Watch cooking demonstrations given by professionals and tour a restaurant in action. There will nutrition games, international cooking theme days, and more set up. What a perfect way to work yourself up into a total food frenzy! $96 if registered by May 1st; $104 after that. Register by June 13th. Potion Commotion July 11-15, 2016 Play with a whole bunch of ooey gooey things at this camp. Discover the magic of science by observing unique chemical reactions in the Girls Zone Laboratories. Make Ooblek and bouncy balls and more with stuff found in the kitchen. There are sure to be some edible experiments in the mix. Remember to to wear old clothes—it’s going to get messy! $120 if registered by May 1st; $130 after that. Register by June 20th. Pampered Camper July 18-22, 2016 Need some pampering and relaxation? Look no further than the Girls Zone Spa. Learn how to treat yourself with homemade facials, body scrubs, and lotions. Refresh your mind through meditation and yoga. Finally, feed your body by learning to prepare healthy snacks, like smoothies and fruit kabobs. Sit back, relax, and get pampered! $120 if registered by May 1st; $130 after that. Register by June 27th. Music Makers July 25-29, 2016 Join us for a week of musical bliss as we explore the sounds of all kinds of music, including Rock, Country, and Pop. Have a blast creating your own instruments from recycled materials and enjoy special performances from local musicians. Build your skills as writer, sound engineer, and performer as you record your own music video with friends! $120 if registered by May 1st; $130 after that. Register by July 5th. Aqua Girls August 1-5, 2016 Splash and squeal through various water games and experiments. Get totally involved in squirt gun and other water-based art projects. Savannah is an ideal trip spot to visit—especially since dozens of historical sites around town have created tours with Girl Scouts in mind that culminate with them receiving a patch. The Scott Summit Center section of the Summit Bechtel Family Reserve offers challenging experiences, including a canopy tour, ropes and a challenge course, mountain bike trails, a skate plaza, archery and climbing areas and more. Then for those who like aquatic activities, there’s also kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and a water obstacle course at Goodrich Lake. Backcountry STEM Expedition July 18-22, 2016 • 10 am Monday - 12 pm FridayThe Mountain Institute, Circleville, WVAttend an intensive four-day backcountry camping experience with a focus on ecological science. Venture to Spruce Knob, the highest-point in West Virginia, where you will act as a scientist and an adventurer studying and camping in one of West Virginia’s most wild and wonderful regions. Spelunk through the Sinks of Gandy Cave, investigate the science of streams, climb mountains, and develop friendships. Get ready for the fun and adventure of a genuine wilderness expedition! GS Mountaineer ExperienceJune 8-11, 2016 • Wednesday afternoon - Saturday morningThe Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve, Glen Jean, WVAction girls unite! Come to the place where you can fly, climb and swing through the trees, among many other things. Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council has partnered with the National Boy Scouts of America to provide a four-day, three-night high adventure opportunity just for you. The Scott Summit Center section of the Summit Bechtel Family Reserve offers challenging experiences, including a canopy tour, ropes and a challenge course, mountain bike trails, a skate plaza, archery and climbing areas and more. Then for those who like aquatic activities, there’s also kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and a water obstacle course at Goodrich Lake. If adventure oozes out of you, girl, then this experience is for you! $230/Troop participant. $255/igirl. Register by May 6th. Min 100/Max 280.

Whatever the reason, this family event is perfect to see this National Boy Scout Camp for yourself and try out some activities at their Summit Center while you are there. If you have other friends or interested family members that happen to be in Boy Scouts or in 4-H or other non-profit organizations, you are welcome to bring them along too! $55/person. For additional information or to register, click on the event name and it will take you to an informational page. By choosing “Register for this Event,” you will be taken directly to the event page in the Online Registration System. Just login (or create a new account if you’re a new member) and register.

• Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Names will be added to a waiting list for events once they are filled.

• If you need to make a reservation without a credit card (i.e. Black Diamond Dollars), please call or email the Events Registrar for assistance: 304-345-7722, or [email protected].

• If you are an out-of-council troop, you must complete an event registration form and you may submit via fax to 304-345-6427, [email protected] or U.S. mail. We must receive the name and address of each participant attending.

• If an event is cancelled, registered participants will be notified by email 10 business days before the event date and the fee will be refunded. Refunds will not be processed for travel/trips unless they are cancelled by Council. Refunds cannot be made for no-shows. You must cancel your registration via email to [email protected] at least three weeks prior to the event date to receive a refund.

• Adults staying overnight at Girl Scout events must be currently registered Girl Scout members and have a successful background check on file.

• All adults attending programs and events, with the exception of family events (F), must be registered Girl Scout members and complete a volunteer background screening.

• Siblings may only attend events designated for families (F) and they must register.

• Financial assistance is available to registered girl members of GSBDC for select events. If you would like to apply for financial assistance, please complete an event registration form and financial assistance request form. If approved you will be notified and your registration will be processed.

• Girls participating as individuals (I) will be supervised by Girl Scout volunteers, community partner staff and occasionally Girl Scout staff.
