Medieval Europe played a major role in trading after the fall of the Roman
Empire.
By Cameron Grube
Trade Resumes
• After the fall of the Roman Empire, trade started to stop.
• With no one fixing the roads, it became harder to trade.
• The Europeans sent Nobles to repair the roads and bridges.
• They also enforced the law, which protected the bridges and roads from further damage.
Trade Is Encouraged
• Even though trade resumed, it still wasn’t very popular.
• The French were already trading on a regular basis, but not many other people were trading after it resumed.
• To encourage trade, the people of France held trade fairs.
• The fairs made trade more popular.
The Use of Money
• As trade became more popular, people wanted to use coins as money.
• They weren’t using money before that because trade was so successful.
• As the demand for the use of money grew bigger and bigger, the people from France decided to use money again.
