Camerons award winning Environmental Safe Guard (ESG)System was developed to provide a safe, reliable andcost-effective alternative to traditional subsea drillingpractices and combines field-proven equipment into anevolutionary new system.
Traditionally offshore drilling is done either with a float-ing vessel, utilizing a subsea BOP stack, with full control anddrilling riser systems or with a jackup or platform utilizing asurface BOP stack and controls.
Another method utilizes a floating vessel with surfaceBOPs in place of subsea BOPs. High-pressure riser is runfrom the surface BOPs to the sea floor where it is cementedin place. This means that the rig is essentially cemented inplace, allowing no practical means of disconnecting in theevent of an emergency. Also, if anything damages the high-pressure riser while drilling, fluids in the riser escape to theenvironment.
Camerons ESG System evolves one step further, utilizing afloating vessel equipped with a combination of subsea andsurface modules. The subsea portion, at only a fraction of thesize and weight of a traditional subsea stack, is used to shear, seal and disconnect from the seabed while the traditionalsurface BOP stack handles all the well control functions.
In the event of an emergency, the control (acoustic, electric, ROV-actuated or hydraulic) system is used to signalthe subsea BOP to shear the pipe. Once the shearing blindrams shear and seal off the bore, the control system is usedto signal the upper connector to disconnect, allowing therig to be moved safely off location with minimal loss ofdrilling or well fluids.

The hydraulicmodule is a standard
Cameron modular pod. Modulesfeature seawater tolerant, stainless steel valves and pressureregulators with sliding, metal-to-metal, shear type seals.
The electronic MUX package consists of the SubseaElectronics Module (SEM) and the solenoid valve package. The SEM contains dual redundant electronics which providecommunications via modem with the surface electronicsystem. The solenoid valve package converts the electroniccommands into hydraulic signals which actuate the largevalves in the hydraulic module.

The new Cameron MoRPH Drilling Control System is theblending of technologies to provide a simple, quick, economical solution for extending the water depth range of second to fourth generation drilling rigs.
The MoRPH system offers a hybrid design which is idealfor rigs drilling in mid-range water depths. MoRPH systems
control time-critical functions by electrical signals (similar to
MUX systems) while non-criticalfunctions are controlled by pilot lines
(like the current shallow water systems). In order to do this, MoRPH systems divide BOP stack
control functions into two basic categories:
Time-critical functions such as opening and closing ram and annular BOPs that must meet the API timingrequirement
Non-time-critical functions
Time-critical functions are controlled by electrical signals, while non-time-critical functions are controlled by pilot lineslike the current shallow water systems. This ensuresadherence to the API requirement by converting criticalshut-in functions to an electro-hydraulic system, yetretains the simplicity of direct hydraulics for other functions.
The MoRPH system is easily adapted to existing pilotedhydraulic systems.

The Cameron SpoolTree Production System is one of themost widely used trees in the world and offers many timeand cost saving advantages over conventional tree systems.
Instead of the typical wellhead-hanger-tree stackup, theSpoolTree design has a wellhead-tree-hanger stackup. Inthis configuration, the Christmas tree consists of aconcentric bore spool with a wellhead connector below anda wellhead connector profile on top. The tubing hanger ishung off inside the spool on a dedicated load shoulder, andthe valves are situated on the side of the spool. No valves
are in the vertical bore of the wellhead/tree system. Thecompletion is run after the tree is installed and thecompletion can be pulled with the tree in place and flowlineconnections undisturbed.
MOSAIC SpoolTree Production Systems can be config-ured with a wide array of component choices. The possiblecombinations of components, available pressure ratings andsizes are virtually endless. The result is a cost-effectivesystem that can be adapted to virtually any subsea job.

The CameronDC is a unique all-electric subsea controlsystem powered by direct current, increasing reliability, availability and maintainability. It is easier to install, has
fewer parts to maintain, provides better feed-backand greater response times
than conventional hydraulic systems. Uptime performance is designed specifically for record cost savings. Other majorfeatures of the system include:
Improved availability and reliability CameronDCrepresents more than a dramatic design departure fromconventional systems; it makes a huge leap in systemuptime and reliability through elimination of the hydraulicsystems.
OPEX/CAPEX savings Operational savings are achievedfrom reliability improvements, lower intervention costs, and increased total production. Capital expendituresavings include reduced costs for umbilicals, hydraulic fluids, installation and commissioning.
Deepwater and long-distance stepouts TheCameronDC system is ideal for use in deep water
and in applications involving long step-outs. Becausehydraulic control is replaced by electronics, theCameronDC provides rapid response times meaning waterdepth limitations disappear and step-out ranges beyond100 miles (160 km) are possible.
Actuation speed and accuracy Elimination of thehydraulics means that control system commands can besent in rapid succession, avoiding the usual lag timerequired for accumulators to charge. Flow and control ofthe well are maintained with vastly improved precision.
High-speed communications and real-time conditionmonitoring Eliminating the need to transmit a hydraulicsignal over a long umbilical, communication withequipment is virtually instantaneous, and feedback onsubsea conditions is instantaneous.
Environmentally friendly CameronDC offers significanthealth, safety, and environmental advantages, withoutdependence on conventional hydraulics. The possibilityof hydraulic leaks is eliminated, as is the issue of fluidsdisposal, and all without the cost of hydraulic fluids inthe first place.

CVC System
With over 550 subsea connections already in place, theCameron Vertical Connection (CVC) System hasproven to be a highly successful and popular system for
connecting flowlines and export lines.Basic components of the system
include a hub support mounted on thesubsea structure and a receiver mounted on the flowline to be connected. The hydraulic CVC running tool is anindependent tool which is operated by ROV. Other majorfeatures of the CVC system include:
Reliable mechanical connection The running toolincorporates a hydraulically operated actuator ring thatlocks pivoting collet segments under the tapered profileof the hub to form a strong connection capable ofhandling high bending loads.
Misalignments accommodated The system canaccommodate 2 degrees of misalignment. Cameron hasinstalled CVC jumpers subsea onto hubs with up to 6degrees of vertical inclination and conducted testing onthe surface with hubs at 14 degrees of inclination.
Simple makeup Collet connectors are lowered directlyonto the hubs. No pipe deflection is needed to make upthe connection.
Cost-effective Because the running tool is completelyindependent and is retrieved to the surface after theconnection is made, no hydraulic components are leftsubsea.
Flexible tooling Running tools are available in 4-12 and 14-20 size ranges, so one tool can be used for multiple applications.

C A M F O R G E C O N N E C T I O N S Y S T E MBased on development started in 1984, the CAMFORGEsystem has been utilized on hundreds of wellheads as wellas subsea pipeline tie-ins. CAMFORGE provides a truemetal-to-metal forged connection that leaves the traditionalwelding process out in the cold.
The safety aspect alone has been enough of a decidingfactor to make many operators choose the CAMFORGEsystem. There are no open flames or sparks in theCAMFORGE cold forging process. Therefore, the potentialfor ignition of surface gas is completely eliminated withCAMFORGE.
The CAMFORGE wellhead systems overall cost is lessthan conventional slip-on weld type units. Significantsavings are realized from drastically reduced installationtimes of approximately one hour. In addition, offshoreplatforms conventional welded installations of a wellheadoften require adjacent wells to be shut in. But not with theCAMFORGE method, thus avoiding production losses fromshut-in wells.
The CAMFORGE system provides a consistentlypredictable connection that removes the worry aboutwelding variables such as preheat and post-heattemperatures and welders skills and it can beaccomplished as easily in the rain as in the sunshine.
