Band is starting soon for 2021
Below are some details regarding Band for 2021.
Training Band (students starting Band this year) will have their band practice on Mondays. This will begin on Monday 8 February 2021 at 8.00am.
Performance Band will continue to have their band practice on Fridays. This will begin on Friday 5 February at 8.00am.
Band tuition for both bands will be each Friday, except for bass guitar and drums, which will be every Tuesday.
There are still places available for our school band. For parents who are interested in their child playing an instrument, please contact Mrs Whiting or Mr Hawker through the school office.

A very warm welcome back to all our families for 2021 and a special welcome to new families who are starting at Camden PS for the first time.
I hope everyone has had a well-deserved break and are ready for a successful year. While students in Years 1 to 6 have already been placed in their 2021 classes and are starting to work towards achieving growth in all Key Learning Areas, our kindergarten students will begin this Thursday.
I would like to welcome Mrs Bobyk to our teaching staff this year.

Updated COVID 19 Guidelines Yesterday, families would have received an update on some of the COVID-19 guidelines. This update can also be viewed on our school website under About Our School.
This update includes information on visitors and parents with appointments utilising the schools’ unique QR code.
When parents (or other visitors) have an appointment to visit the school they are required to sign in as normal and also scan the QR Code and show the Admin staff that they have signed in to the Service NSW COVID Safe Check-in tool. The sign-in area and the QR code are in the school administration area.

School Hats A big thank you to parents and caregivers who have supported the school’s new sun safety initiative and provided such positive feedback.
The new school hats look fantastic and complement our wonderful school uniform.
As part of our sun safety initiative, the school has organised a UV Poster on the student noticeboard that is updated each day.

Meet the Teacher Night is Wednesday 10 February. This is a great opportunity to begin to establish those important partnerships between home and school to strengthen student learning outcomes. While session times are below, a note with additional information will be distributed tomorrow.

School Canteen Welcome to Fresh Start Canteens for Term 1 2021.
A copy of the regular menu has been sent home with students today, including information about a new sushi menu. The menu is also available at the canteen and can be viewed on the school website. When ordering noodles for lunch, students are to collect them directly from the canteen. Information has also been distributed today about how to download the QuickCliq app which allows families to order lunches online.
Swimming Carnival Tuesday 23 February Students in Years 3 to 6 will receive their swimming carnival note next week.
Please return the permission note to the front office.
Please note that the Razorback Carnival will be on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 February.
Great Start Students in Years 1 to 6 have had a great start to their learning. This includes Jonathan from K/6C who is already working hard on his writing.

Medication Forms
From time to time, your child may require medication or creams to be administered at school. It is Department Policy that an Authority to Administer Medication to a student at School Form is completed and kept on file for each student. Staff are unable to administer medication without this form being completed and signed by a parent/carer. All medications are to be handed into the school office in the morning and collected in the afternoon by the parent/carer. Should your child require medication, please see the office staff who will provide you with this form.
Sick Bay
Should you be called to pick up your child from sick bay,
please see the office staff before collecting your child
from sick bay to ensure the student is signed out from
school correctly.
Visitors / Parent Helpers
Please ensure you sign in on the Passtab ipad which is
located in the schools front foyer when attending
classroom appointments or helping out with class groups.
Visitors stickers will be printed once you have signed in
and are to be worn whilst on school premises.
Parking near the School A reminder to families to park safely in the designated parking spots on Mitchell and John Street before dropping off or picking up your children. Families are reminded not to use school staff car parks for dropping off their children. The main driveway next to the library is not to be accessed by parents or students at anytime during the school day. Please use the main entrance gates to the school when entering or exiting the school grounds.
School Newsletter Our school newsletter is issued every second Tuesday. The two options in which you can receive the newsletter are listed below. Option 1: Skoolbag App
Skoolbag App is available for parents to receive the school newsletter, alerts and reminders about upcoming school events and other information on your mobile phone. Anaphylaxis Training Staff will be completing their annual anaphylaxis and CPR training on the evening of Wednesday 24 February. This year we continue to have several students who are highly allergic to nuts and shellfish. As in past years, the school asks for your support in this area by refraining from sending in food that contains nuts and shellfish.
Onslow Oval Permission Note
Today students received an Onslow Oval permission note for
2021. Please return this note to your classroom teacher in
order for your child to be able to participate in various
training sessions and sporting events at Onslow Oval
throughout 2021.
OSHC at Camden PS Our Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) service begun on Friday 29 January. The service is provided by Kids United.

School Appointments
From time to time you may have either a scheduled
appointment, you may need to see your child or your child’s
classroom teacher or Mr Hawker. All visitors to the school
are required to sign in at the front office before proceeding
to the classroom or to Mr Hawker’s office.

The NSW Government is helping kids get active with the Active Kids program. The Active Kids program provides two $100 vouchers for parents, guardian or carers of school-enrolled children to use towards sport and recreation costs each year. If you are a parent, carer or guardian, the student will be eligible if they are:
a NSW resident
aged between 4.5 and 18 years
enrolled in school from Kindergarten to Yr 12
a current Medicare card holder. You can apply for a voucher for each eligible student. You can use the voucher for registration, participation or membership costs with an approved Active Kids provider. What you need:
a MyService NSW account
one proof of identity document
your child’s Medicare card details
your child’s height and weight (optional) How to apply:
1. Check the eligibility requirements. 2. Select the ‘Apply Online” button 3. Log into your account, or sign up for a MyService NSW
Account 4. Follow the prompts to apply for the voucher
Note: if you’re applying for a child’s second voucher, select ‘Apply for Active Kids Voucher 2’ on the service tab.
To use the voucher:
1. Choose the eligible provider where you’ll use the
voucher.
2. At registration or payment time, provide the following information through the provider’s preferred process:
Child’s full name
Child’s date of birth
Active Kids voucher number.

ply-active-kids-voucher Labelling Personal Belongings Please ensure that all school hats, jackets, uniforms, lunch boxes, drink bottles etc are clearly labelled, with your child’s first and last name and class. A lost property box is located outside the Kindergarten classrooms for any items that students may misplace. .
Opal Card All students who catch the bus either to or from school
are reminded that they must tap on and tap off each time
they use the school bus service. Opal data is gathered by
tapping on and off. This data is used to determine the
demand for bus services. If students do not tap on and
tap off, services may be cancelled.
Uniform Shop The Uniform Shop will be open every Tuesday morning from 9.00-9.30am. Parents can also place orders via the front office or order on line at [email protected]
Commonwealth Bank Student Banking
The Commonwealth Bank Student Banking will
commence in Week 3 on Wednesday 10 February 2021.
Permission Notes
Permission notes will be sent home throughout the year
for various activities or excursions. All permission notes
that require a payment are to the be returned to the front
office and placed in the letterbox in a clearly labelled
envelope with your child’s name and class. Permission
notes that do not require a payment may be returned to
the class teacher.
POP (Parent on line Payments) The POP payment method is available for excursions and various activities throughout the year. Please ensure the permission note associated to the POP payment is returned to the front office, with the receipt payment number recorded. Students are not permitted to attend excursions without signed parent/carer permission.
