SCHOOL EVENTS
TECHNOLYMPICS (2017-2018)
Cambridge School, Noida hosted the Inter School Mega Infotech festival, „TECHNOLYMPICS‟ on
17th November, 2017. This is an IT based festival in which various tech savvy children get a
chance to showcase their talents. About 35 schools from NCR and Delhi participated in this Mega
event. The function started with the lighting of the auspicious lamp by the Chief Guest Mr. Sameer
Bhalla, alumni of 1998 Cambridge School Noida Founder and CEO, Health Intel and members of
the managing committee. The events for the day included Virtual Warriors, Top Coders, Battle of
Brains, QB Express, Robotronix, Director‟s Cut, Webomania, etc. All the events were adjudged by
an eminent panel of judges from the IT Sector and who are the alumni of Cambridge School,
Noida.
First, Second and Third prizes were given for each event. The overall trophy was bagged by
Cambridge School, Indirapuram. The Chief Guest in his speech appreciated the efforts of the
students and said that he was impressed by the way the students of today are making use of
technology in a positive way. Piyush Ranjan, President of Infotech Club Cambridge School Noida
proposed the vote of thanks. The function ended with the national anthem.

CHILDREN’S DAY
A special assembly was organised to celebrate Children‟s Day at Cambridge School, Noida on
14th November, 2017. The morning assembly commenced with the teachers singing the Morning
Prayer followed by poem recitation, talk on the importance of Children‟s Day, thought for the day
and the news. Later during the day the movie „Secret Superstar‟ was screened at the Roma Deb
auditorium for the students of classes VI – XII which was thoroughly enjoyed by the students.
SPICMACAY
On 23rd November,2017,The Shree Ram Millennium School Noida presented a musical morning
by the world renowned creator of the „ Mohan Veena „ , Padma Bhushan , Pandit Vishwa Mohan
Bhatt, under the aegis of „SPICMACAY‟ . He played a morning raga „Ram Kali‟ based on „Teen
Taal'. 10 students of class VIII B and C Cambridge School, Noida accompanied by Mrs. Jaya
Pathak attended the programme.
LIFE SKILLS - NOVEMBER 2017
Topic for the month: Conflict Resolution
Conflict resolution is conceptualized as the methods and processes involved in facilitating the peaceful ending of conflict and retribution. Learning objectives: To use the skills like decision making, problem solving, empathy, listening skills, creativity etc. while solving a problem. Methodology: A brief discussion was held in the classes with the students on anger-management
and how to avoid fights with others. The students were also told the importance of “SORRY” and
“THANK YOU”. They also spoke about how these conflicts affect them and how they can resolve
them. The students mentioned that sometimes they try to work on the conflicts and sometimes
they just laugh it away. The life skill activity gave an insight to the students' life and the problems
they have to deal with on a day to day basis. In some classes worksheets were also given to the
students. This life skill activity was successfully conducted. The students found the topic
interesting and spoke openly about the conflicts they have with their families and friends.

WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
On 3rd November, 2017, 13 students, accompanied by Ms. Jennifer from Cambridge School,
Noida attended a brainstorming session on "Sustainable Cities and Villages" organised by
UNITAR and CIFAL in Shiv Nadar School, Expressway, Sector-168, Noida.
The session aimed at creating awareness on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals through
discussions and activities.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
A Talk on „Corporate Social Responsibility‟ organised by the Commerce Department was held in
the school auditorium on Monday, 6th November, 2017 as part of the International School Award
activity.
The talk was given by Ms. Kshama Kaushik, a Chartered Accountant and founder Director of
Thought Arbitrage Research Institute (TARI) which does specific research in areas of corporate
governance and sustainability issues. It was attended by the students of class XI A, B and E and
they found it very relevant and interesting at the same time.
THEATRE PRESENTATION- ECONOMICS
Students of class IX Cambridge School, Noida presented a theatre presentation on „The Plight of
Farmers in India‟ on 24th November, 2017 in the Roma Deb auditorium.
Objectives of the presentation were:
a. Analysing the condition of farmers in India
b. Sensitizing learners towards the problems of farmers in India
c. Suggesting measures to improve the condition of farmers
Students were involved in writing the script, preparing a motivational song dedicated to the hard
work of the feeders of our nation. It was a great learning experience for the students. Through this
theatre presentation, students highlighted the problems faced by farmers – need for credit, loans

from money lenders, exploitation of farmers by moneylenders, false promises made by politicians,
policies of the government and lack of proper implementation of these policies. Suggestions to
improve the condition of farmers in India were put forth through this presentation.
Col. Choudhary, Chairman, Cambridge School, Noida appreciated the performance of the
students. Ms. Nandita Sinha Roy, Vice-Principal (Academics) gave plaudits to the students for
their commitment and excellent performance.
CANON PHOTOMARATHON
On 18th of November 2017 a Photomarathon was organized by Canon at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor
Stadium. New Delhi. The students who participated in this Photomarathon were Arpit Monga of
class XD, Aryan Ahuja of IXC, Yohan K. Bobby of IXD, Aryan Budhiraja and Divyansh Sharma of
IXE. The topic given for photoshoot was “Love Is life”.
INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD ACTIVITY
The Social Science department of Cambridge School, Noida conducted the International School
Award activity- Disaster and Disaster mitigation across the world on 27th November, 2017.
Under this activity a movie „San Andreas Quake‟ was screened for class IX students and a
questionnaire related to the topic was given to the students at the end of the movie to test their
understanding about a disaster. The students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.
VISIT TO CODON BIOTECH
Class XII Biology Students of Cambridge School, Noida visited “CODON BIOTECH” on 28th
November, 2017. It is a Biotech laboratory located at Sector 63, NOIDA. The students performed
the following experiments:
1. Isolation of DNA from bacterial culture
2. Agarose gel Electrophoresis and observation of DNA segments under UV rays.
They also observed various other devices such PCR Cycler, Fermenter, Centrifuge machine,
Colorimeter, Sterile chamber, etc.

SPACE EXPLORERS WORKSHOPS Space Explorers Workshop was conducted in the Roma Deb auditorium at Cambridge School,
Noida. The focus of the workshops was on teaching Space Science and Astronomy to students
through practical hands on experience, which will develop their knowledge base as well as life
skills. A total of 61 students from classes VI to X participated in the workshops.
The first workshop on Solar Observation with Safe Methods was conducted in the school on 20th
November 2017. In this workshop, students learnt about the SUN and the reasons to study it.
They also learnt the ways to observe the Sun safely and realize the importance of using safe
methods for solar observation. All the participants were given a solar view goggles, study material
and a cap after the completion of the workshop.
The second workshop was on Building Mega Structures, which was conducted on 29th November
2017. In this workshop, students investigated the reasons behind the sturdiness of various mega
structures in this universe. They deduced by constructing and testing various shapes that triangle
is the strongest among all the shapes. The students were given reference material and a DIY kit
for making their own truss which will be provided to them in the next workshop.

THEATRE PRESENTATION MATHEMATICS
Mathematics Theatre Presentation for class VII was conducted on 30th November 2017 at
Cambridge School, Noida on 'Integers' in the presence of Dr. Kalyani Roy, Ms. Nandita Sinha Roy
(Vice Principal) and Ms. Nalin Anju. The play was about how negative numbers haunt a young boy
who didn't have any idea about negative numbers and how he learnt integers. 19 students
participated in the play and it ended with a dance performance on integers. The students actively
participated in the play and their parents also motivated them by their presence. The whole idea of
this play was learning by doing and how Mathematical concepts can be taught in a creative
manner.
CAPACITY BUILDING FOR TEACHERS
HINDI SEMINAR
The Hindi Department conducted a seminar on „Bhartendu Harishchandra
Vyaktitva Aur Krititva‟ on 16 November, 2017 at Cambridge School, Noida.
Mr. S.P Sharma welcomed the guests and presented some important facts about Bhartendu
Harish Chandra‟s life. Mr. Varun Jha and Ms. Sarika Sharma presented some important features
of the poet‟s personality. Ms. Richa Sharma talked about his famous works whereas Ms. Seema
Dimri gave a brief description of his novel „Andher Nagri Chaupat Raja‟. This was followed by
Class IX students presenting the play which was praised by everyone.
Col. Chaudhary appreciated the presentation of the Hindi Department in his feedback comments.

ROLE OF TEACHERS IN INFLUENCING THE LIFE OF STUDENTS
A Seminar on the “Role of teachers in influencing the life of students” was organised at IIMT group
of colleges, Greater Noida on 28thNovember, 2017. Chief Guest for the event was Shri Tapan
Kumar, Sangathan Mantri - Vidya Bharati and Guest of Honour Mr. Divya Kant Shukl. Speakers
emphasized on the role of teachers in shaping the future of students. The role of society, parents
and teachers in students‟ life was discussed. Responsibility of the teachers is not just to impart
education but inculcate good habits and moral conduct among students. Shri Tapan Kumar quoted
numerous examples of extraordinary teachers who have dedicated their life for this noble
profession. Ms. Kiran Sibal and Ms. Puneet Kaur from Cambridge School, Noida attended the
seminar. The seminar was also attended by Principals and teachers from various schools.

REMODELLED ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE –CLASS X
A Capacity Building Programme on Remodelled Assessment Structure for Class X was held on
25th November, 2017 at Delhi Public School, NTPC Vidyut Nagar, Dadri.
The aim of the programme organised by CBSE was to answer queries and dispel any doubts
regarding the Remodelled Assessment Structure for Class X which has been introduced from
session 2017-18. The resource person Dr. Anu Singh, Vice Principal, Indian School, Delhi
addressed about 80 teachers from various schools in Noida.
Dr. Anu Singh reiterated that internal assessment by the teachers should entail objectivity and
structured approach and should be used as an effective tool for holistic assessment of the
students. The workshop was very informative and will help in implementation of the remodelled
assessment structure for class X& XI efficiently in the school. Ms. Rachna Arora from Cambridge
School, Noida attended the programme.
WORKSHOP ON ECONOMICS
Economics Workshop was organised by Sadhu Vaswani International School, Shanti Niketan,
New Delhi on 27thNovember, 2017. The resource persons were Dr. S. K. Agarwal (from CBSE),
Mr. T. S. Walia and Mr. Puneet Duggal. Dr. Agarwal discussed the contents of the new syllabus of
Economics and specifically instructed the teachers to adhere to the CBSE syllabus. He also
discussed how marking schemes are to be prepared. Mr. T. S. Walia discussed various topics on
Balance of Payment and some high order thinking skill questions on the same. Mr. Puneet Duggal
focused on the use of modern media and technology in teaching Economics. Ms. Shelly Baweja
and Ms Anikini Dhall from Cambridge School, Noida attended the workshop and found it very
informative and educative.
MEETING OF COUNSELLORS AND SPECIAL EDUCATORS
A meeting of counsellors and special educators from all branches of Cambridge School was held
on 21st November, 2017 at Cambridge School Noida. It was conducted by Ms. Sunetra Banerjee
and Ms. Roomki Mitra of Cambridge School, Noida. The following issues were discussed.

TRIPS AND EXCURSIONS
DAY TRIP TO WORLDS OF WONDER, NOIDA
126 students of Class XII Cambridge School, Noida went for a day trip to Worlds of Wonder, Noida
on 6th November, 2017 accompanied by Ms. Mamta Rishi, Ms. Ritu Dhaka, Dr. Hemant Singh, Mr.
Rohit Dhingra and Ms. Anikini Dhall. The students spent the day enjoying various rides and
playing games. After lunch they had a jam session in the dancing area. It was really heart-
warming to see the young adults enjoy their rides like little toddlers and the trip worked as a good
break from the daily routine of studies. It was surely a memorable experience before they
graduate from their school life.
TRIP TO KEOLADEO NATIONAL PARK AT BHARATPUR
Cambridge School, Noida organized a two day UNESCO heritage trip to Keoladeo National Park
at Bharatpur. Ninety seven students from classes VI- VIII accompanied by nine teachers went for
the trip on 17th and 18th November, 2017.
Keoladeo is a manmade and man managed wetland. The reserve protects Bharatpur from
frequent floods and is primarily used as a hunting ground. It is home to various species of birds
such as the parakeet, owl, pintail, green pigeon, kingfisher, crane, hawk, wagtails, woodpecker
and animals such as sambar, nilgai. It was an enriching trip for the students. A short quiz was
also conducted by the trip in charge for the students who participated enthusiastically. This trip
enabled the students to learn about different kinds of birds, climatic conditions, geographical
location and types of vegetation that one finds in Bharatpur.
