our CollegeCambridge Regional College (CRC) is a large Further Education institution situated in the historic town of Cambridge which is 45 miles northeast of London with excellent rail links to the capital. The College provides education and training opportunities for 4,000 full-time students aged 15-18 and 9,000 part-time, 19+ learners, many of whom are in the workplace. The College also welcomes over 1,000 international students from over fifty countries each year.

The College has recently undergone an exciting redevelopment that has increased the size and facilities at our Cambridge Campus enormously allowing students to utilise the most up-to-date and purpose-built facilities to support their studies. Cambridge Regional College’s International Centre has a very high success rate when it comes to the progression of its international students – with an outstanding percentage of students passing their courses and progressing to Higher Education and further study.

CRC Cambridge CampusThe City of Cambridge has an expanding population and is the centre of many high technology industries, many of them based at the Cambridge Science Park near our Science Park Campus. The surrounding area is primarily rural and is served by a number of schools, village and community colleges which offer full-time education. Cambridge’s long history as a university town means that it is rich in amenities with excellent shops and libraries as well as a range of recreational facilities. CRC complements other institutions in the locality and contributes to an education system which, in terms of high quality, diversity and choice, is probably unmatched in the country.

Cambridge lies within easy reach of Stansted, Luton and Heathrow airports and is just over one hour from London by car or train. This cosmopolitan centre provides a stimulating environment for foreign students. Not only is there a lively university student population, Cambridge is also one of the most progressive centres for business in Europe.

A wide variety of modern and traditional cultural activities are on show all year round including concerts, stage plays and art exhibitions. The colourful Cambridge market is a key feature of the central square and the city boasts two major shopping centres, The Grafton Centre and the recently developed Grand Arcade.

Cambridge offers a wide range of clubs and societies, covering the arts, entertainment, performance and sport, together with a wide range of social and cultural events and festivals including the annual Strawberry Fair and Cambridge Folk Festival. In Cambridge you can sail, row, play tennis, volleyball and squash, follow martial arts, fly, dance, climb, canoe, box, go-kart, and dive – the list of activities is endless and offers something for everyone.

Further afield in the surrounding East Anglian countryside there are many places of interest to visit. The Fens and Norfolk broads to the North offer a haven to some of Britain’s lesser-known birds, whilst the famous market towns of Lavenham, Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds further east take visitors into the heart of Suffolk – the agricultural heartland of Britain.

CRC London CampusOur new London Campus offers a superb range of high quality courses, where international students will benefit from all the expertise and experience of Cambridge Regional College with the additional benefit of being in London.

“I chose Cambridge Regional College for several reasons. Firstly, I could study with a part-time job. Secondly, fees for students from the European Union are very affordable and finally, former students seemed happy with their learning and marks in the Cambridge Examinations. Now I have passed my Cambridge Advanced Exam which was required for the validation of my qualifications, I am able to work as a professional in the UK. In the future, I would like to do a PhD in Music Therapy in English.’”

superior Facilities

CRC’s learning environment, equipment and facilities are amongst the very best in the country.

We encourage students to use our extensive learning resources, IT suites and video conferencing facilities independently and to work on assignments and develop research and study skills using the Internet, CD-ROMs, interactive videos or one of more than 700 computers available at CRC.

Our excellent sports facilities include a modern sports centre, with squash courts and a fully equipped fitness suite. A full programme of activities includes over 20 teams competing in most major sports. Student facilities include cafeterias and restaurants, while the College has an active Students’ Union which arranges social activities and outings both in the UK and overseas throughout the year.

superior Learning

CRC has a dedicated staff base and a broad range of services to meet all your needs including networked computed suites, a well stocked learning resource centre, English language support, student services, ongoing careers guidance, several food and refreshment outlets and some of the best teaching staff in the UK.

Our teachers are flexible and innovative professionals with considerable teaching experience.

specialist support

We provide specialist support for students with visual/hearing impairments, or who are disabled or dyslexic and, wherever possible, offer additional tuition with adapted learning materials and individual support.

CRC provides help and support to international students – both before they arrive and during their time at the College. The International Centre offers information, advice and guidance on a range of issues that may be of concern to international students. These services include:

Counselling

Counsellors are available to talk with students on any matter of personal concern or difficulty. This service is independent of the academic provision at the College and is completely confidential.

Careers guidance

For international students who wish to progress on to further study at UK universities, a team of professionally qualified Career Advisors are available to provide guidance on courses and institutions.

Welfare

A range of welfare, health and religious services are also available to international students on a confidential basis.

students’ Union

International students automatically become members of CRC’s Students’ Union, which is run by students and provides a variety of recreational and sporting activities across the College; it also represents student views and opinions on a number of College committees.

A Students’ Union identity card, available to all students, can be used to obtain concessionary prices for club, theatre and cinema tickets as well as discounts on a range of items purchased from certain shops. The Students’ Union also sponsors an International Students’ Society at CRC.

AccommodationHomestay (Cambridge Campus only)

Students live with a local English speaking family in their home, usually based within two miles of the College’s Cambridge campus at Kings Hedges. The family provides accommodation, together with breakfast and evening meal each day, plus lunch on Saturday and Sunday. A host family does not necessarily mean father, mother and children – some are retired couples or single people.

When a student enrols on a course they need to specify the type of accommodation they require and they will then be sent an application form. The International Centre will arrange a host family on their behalf.

We also advise students to insure their personal belongings before moving into their host family accommodation. They can do this when applying for their travel insurance.

Halls of Residence (Cambridge Campus only)

Sedley Court is an example of student accommodation located on a bus route to the city centre and CRC. Sedley Court is within walking distance of the Cambridge train station and consists of 150 single study en-suite bedrooms, all fully furnished with entry phone systems and telephone connections. Bedrooms are fully furnished with en-suite shower rooms. Kitchens are shared between five residents.

Private accommodation

The College can arrange accommodation in flats and houses for students with dependants. Students can also opt for self-catering accommodation in shared houses.
