I. IntroductionThe Renson consumer guarantee describes the terms and conditions that Camargue® and Algarve® must conform to and what consumers may expect from the system. Nevertheless, there are situations where it is not entirely clear if a certain phenomenon may be considered normal. This document was created as a guide for the installer to mitigate the chance of any arguments arising.

II. Water infiltrationWhen closed, the blades of Algarve and Camargue protect the terrace underneath from the rain. However, because Algarve and Camargue are not thermally closed systems, a 100% waterproof construction cannot be guaranteed. That is why the user guarantee describes the impermeability as follows:

• The bladed roof of the Algarve®/Camargue® is waterproof.• Condensation may occur on the underside of the blades.• An Algarve®/Camargue® is an open ‘outdoor’ terrace covering, not to be confused with a thermally closed, water and windproof conserva-

tory. This means furniture, flooring … must be suitable for outdoor use.• The orientation, location, finishing, model, installation etc. of the Algarve®/Camargue® can have an (unexpected) impact on the impermeability,

as do extreme and exceptional weather conditions.• Drops may form on the columns and frame. When in doubt about the cause of these drops (which may or may not be inherent to the product),

please contact the installer. They will be able to determine if this is normal.• Spray from the gutters is minimised by the water diffuser but can never be 100% avoided.

To give the consumer a clear picture of what to expect in terms of the performance of the bladed roof we have provided an overview of situations where Camargue and Algarve may come into contact with water. We distinguish between normal situations, situations which may be expected, and situations which are not in line with expectations. There are also recommendations for solutions should the latter situations occur.

1. General provisions

Algarve® and Camargue® are fitted with a drainage system that can handle most rain showers. However, in case of extreme showers and espe-cially if combined with wind, it is possible that the amount of water proves too much for the drainage system. Extreme weather conditions are therefore not included in the provisions below.

During a shower the stand-alone wall panels of Algarve and Camargue are continuously exposed to water. So it is only normal that the water should drain off the outside of the frame and columns. Even after a shower some excess water may still flow along the outside profiles and columns.

The water on the outside may find its way to the underside and inside of the frame and profiles due to forces of adhesion. This too is considered normal and will stop of its own accord within an hour after the shower.

If the rainwater seeps in between the profiles and if this still persists an hour after the shower has ended, either in the form of drops or a trickle of water, even after drying off the profiles, we refer to this as water infiltration.

DETAIL E:Water sprays in from the gutter

= Normal situation

The gutters are equipped with diffusers to prevent as much spray as possible. However, this does not mean it's impossible for spray to enter. Sometimes wind between the top beam and the blades can cause water to spray out of the gutter causing it to end up on the inside of the bladed roof.As soon as the water is drained from the gutters this stops.

V. Visual aspects

1. Coating quality

To determine any shortcomings in the quality of the coating the surface is tilted upwards at an angle of 60° and inspected from a distance of 3m.

You should not be able to see the following defects:• excessive roughness• paint drips• blistering• entrapped air• cratering• dull areas• holes, dents• scratches• other visual flaws

2. Inspection of colour and gloss

a) Aluminium profiles

For aluminium profiles there is a 5 year warranty on the gloss of the coated profiles and a 10 year warranty on the colour fastness. Colour fastness and gloss are determined visually in the following way:From a distance of 5m there may not be any visible variations in colour or gloss. This warranty only applies to the visible parts.

b) Screens

The screens may fade over time. It is therefore normal for replaced or reordered fabrics to vary in colour from the existing screens. The other fab-rics will not be replaced on account of these colour variations (e.g. in warranty cases).

60°

Page 19: Camargue and Algarve - Northern Shades

19

Guidelines for after-sales service Camargue® en Algarve®

3. Fitting the profiles

To ensure a perfect connection of the profiles, they are produced with narrow tolerances. During the installation it is of vital importance to ensure they are fitted correctly and that there are no gaps or irregularities between the profiles. It is important, not only from an aesthetic point of view but also to guarantee optimal waterproofing, that profiles are fitted without gaps or irregularities.

4. Fitting the blades

The bladed roof makes an even and regular pattern.

a) Straightness tolerance

Between 2 blades there is a theoretical distance of 6.92mm.

Depending on the length of the blades the following tolerances on this distance are permitted by the extrusion norm EN12020-2:

Blade length Tolerance at a distance of 6.92mm

1000 – 1999 mm ±1.3mm

2000 – 2999 mm ±1.8mm

3000 – 3999 mm ±2.2mm

4000 – 5000 mm ±2.6mm

b) Flatness tolerance:

The blades can bend slightly under their own weight.

Between 2 adjacent blades the difference in bend must not be more than 5mm.

6,92

5mm

5. Fixscreen and Crystal windows

The zip system ensures that the fabric is held as straight and as tight as possible. However, in some circumstances (installation quality, weather conditions, construction conditions...) some minor creasing may occur along the sides.

With Crystal window in particular, creasing along the sides frequently occurs due to the use of different materials (Renson screen and PVC window). This is due to the combina-tion of materials and is not a cause for replacement.

Horizontal lines occur when the fabric remains rolled up for a long time. These usually disappear when you leave the fabric to hang for a good while.

In case of a screen with a Crystal window it is important to point out to the customer that the following characteristics are not included in the warranty:• The Crystal window may shrink, causing creases.• Due to UV rays a cloud may form on the Crystal window. • The Crystal window is liable to light scratching.

We offer a 2 year guarantee on the Crystal window.

Deflection bottom barThe bottom bar of the Fixscreens can bend in the middle under the own weight of aluminum. The degree of deflection is calculated as follows: length of bottom bar / 200.Eg. Length bottom bar 4000 mm à maximum bending in the middle: 20 mm

VI. Maintenance instructions

1. Aluminium profiles

Aluminium is often described as maintenance-free. However, this is not true! Without regular maintenance the coated aluminium will lose its colour and gloss due to a number of external factors (UV-radiation, (acid) rain, salty air, corrosion, humidity, rust and other atmospheric pollutants). It is important to point out to the end user that a thorough clean-ing of the profiles 1x a year is a must in order to protect the decorative aspect of the terrace covering for as long as possible. Depending on the environment, more frequent cleaning may be necessary.

Pollution blocking the pores of the (structured) powder coating causes chalking. It is as if the colour disappears. This can manifest itself in the form of staining, runs or appearance of dried droplets. However, this pollution is not structural and can be removed subject to appropriate cleaning. Regular maintenance will prevent this pollution becoming ingrained.

a. Cleaning instructions

Permitted:• Clean cold water (max. 25°C), possibly with the addition of a neutral detergent (PH7)• Soft sponge Microfibre cloth• Chamois• Soft brush• Benzene, free from aromatics or containing isopropyl alcohol (IPA), to remove greasy, oily or sooty substances • (residual glue, silicone sealant or tape)• Soft white pencil rubber to remove stubborn residue • Pressure washers at a distance of >1m

Not permitted:• Steam cleaners• Pressure washers with dirt blaster Scouring or abrasive products• Detergents of unknown composition• Solvents containing esters, ketones, polyhydric alcohol, glycol ethers or halogenated hydrocarbons and the like • Highly acidic or alkaline detergents (e.g. all-purpose cleaners, degreasers)• Cleaning in full sun (>25°C) (It is best to clean on a clouded or rainy day)

b. Cleaning procedure

• Rinse off loose dirt, sand, dust with running cold water. • Remove any leaves and other dirt from the gutter.• Lather the surface thoroughly and leave to soak. Use a neutral detergent for this purpose and apply with a sponge, microfibre cloth or soft

brush. • Do not leave to soak for longer than 1 hour!• Rinse thoroughly with clean cold water.• Dry with a clean lint-free cloth or chamois.• If you wish you can protect the surface using commercially available products that have been tested for their suitability for powder-coated

surfaces. • For heavy soiling repeat the procedure after 24 hours.

Residue from detergents and recurrent pollution (dust, rain ...) can, under the influence of UV/IR radiation from the sun, lead to irreparable dam-age to the coated surfaces leading to loss of aesthetic value. Always rinse well after every contact with a detergent!

Also make sure during the installation that any traces of silicone, butyl or other products are removed immediately!

If the conventional productsand procedures are inadequate for cleaning, we advise you to use a Rubbing Compound (brand “Commandant - number 3” or similar product from another manufacturer) to remove the remaining spots.

Page 22: Camargue and Algarve - Northern Shades

22

Camargue® en Algarve® Guidelines for after-sales service

2. Fixscreen

The system requires little maintenance, but in order to enjoy your Fixscreen for many years to come please make a note of the following:• The fabric may show stains as a result of the manipulation during production and

installation. These can easily be removed with a "power sponge".• Feel free to roll up the screen if the fabric is wet but remember to roll it back down

when the weather improves to let it dry. • Avoid leaving the fabric rolled up for more than three days to prevent mould and

stains. Fabrics with Crystal windows must always be completely dry when rolling them up!

• Remove loose dirt with a vacuum or brush before cleaning. Then use a non-caustic detergent and lukewarm water to remove any remaining dirt (special detergents are available from your installer). Attention! Only wash the Crystal fabric with clean lukewarm water (± 30°C).

• Always rinse the fabric after cleaning.• Avoid cleaning in full sun: quickly drying soapy water can leave stains on the fabric.• Do not use harsh abrasive cleaning agents.• As a manufacturer, we recommend regular technical inspection of your installation by

the installer (every 4 years for consumer use).• Always use original parts from the manufacturer.• Hinged or rotating parts must be lubricated annually. For this purpose use a dry

lubricant (Veidec Dry Lube (G6002790)).• Plastic bushings can be lubricated after cleaning with a dry lubricant (Veidec Dry

Lube (G6002790)).

3. Loggiawood® and Loggiawood® Privacy

The Loggiawood® and Loggiawood® Privacy sliding panels are fitted with Western Red Cedar blades. This type of wood will naturally turn grey when exposed to wind and weather and does not require any specific maintenance.

If you wish to obtain an even weathering, treat the wooden blades every 2 years with 1 or 2 coats of a non-film-forming cedar oil.

Any moss can be removed with a stiff bristle brush.

In case of rain the wooden slats absorb water, mainly through the ends. This is normal in view of the fibrous structure of the wood. Therefore the drying time of the ends is longer than that for the middle parts of the slats. Markings of water are inevitable for untreated wood that is used outdoor.

Basically, these markings will (after a longer dry period) almost completely disappear. These markings have no effect on the durability of the wood. (Western Red Cedar has durability class II)

VII. Accessories

1. Heating

The heating element has a power rating of 2600W and works on the principle of natural convection. This means that the space is heated by the natural airflow of heated air. It goes without saying that optimal heat convection can only be achieved in a confined space. Therefore, to use the Heat BEAM the terrace covering should be closed off with fabric, glass partitions or connecting walls. In addition, you must point out to the cus-tomer that they are in an uninsulated outdoor space and that you cannot achieve the same comfort as in an indoor space.Due to the heat the Heating Plate may discolor. This is normal and will not harm the operation of the heater.

2. Speakers

The 8Ω speakers have a power output of 25W (peak power 50W). This can produce 86dB (±3dB).

3. Remote control and antenna

In normal conditions, the remote control has a range of +/- 20 meters.External factors, however, can have a negative impact on the signal.

The control box of the motor for the Camargue NEW is equipped with a new antenna, which is pre-assembled in a PVC-protection tube, and is already integrated in the Pivot frame profile.

In case of an Algarve NEW this new antenna is placed in the finishing profile on the Span-side where the control box of the motor and the trans-former are situated.

If the RTS reception range between the Somfy® hand transmitter and the motor control box is still insufficient due to various factors, this antenna should be placed externally on the structure.

4. Wind sensor, rain sensor and frost function

The wind sensor, rain sensor and frost function ensure that the blades are turned to their ideal position in all weather conditions.

• Wind sensor: At wind speeds >50km/h (30mph) the blades close automatically• Rain sensor: In humid and rainy conditions the blades close automatically• Frost function: When the temperature reaches freezing point the blades open slightly• Combination frost function + rain sensor: In case of snow (temperature around freezing point and a reading of humidity) the blades

turn to the programmed snow position

The wind sensor has priority on all other functions. In new installations the frost function is not activated by default, so the blades will not open automatically when it freezes. If the automatic position is not desired, it can always be changed manually using the hand transmitter. For example, when you do want open blades when it is windy. The manually adjusted position will remain as long as the weather conditions are above the limit.

If the weather conditions go below the limit, the automatic function will take over again, with a 15 minute delay. If the weather conditions exceed the limit again within those 15 minutes, the manually adjusted position will be maintained. If the limit is not exceeded after 15 minutes, the auto-matic function will take over again.
