Pastor: In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit!y Congregation: Amen! Matthew 28:19

The Lord be with you! Ruth 2:4

y And also with you!

God has gone up with a shout, Psalm 47:5

y The LORD with the sound of a trumpet!

The Lord has ascended on high,y Leading a host of captives in his train! Psalm 68:18

“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear.” Psalm. 66:18

Beloved, our Lord has invited us to draw near to him with an honest heart. He has graciously promised to receive all those who come to him with heavy burdens of guilt and shame. Therefore I exhort all who are here today to accompany me with a pure heart and a humble voice, unto the throne of heavenly grace.

y O Almighty God, heavenly Father, I have sinned against you and against my neighbor, in thought word and deed, in the evil I have done and in the good I have not done, through ignorance, through weakness, and through my own deliberate fault. I am truly sorry and repent of all my sins. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, who died for me, forgive me all that is past; and grant that I may serve you in newness of life to the glory of your Name. Amen.

“O Israel, hope in the Lord; for with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him is abundant redemption. And He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.” Psalm 130:7–8

Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for your sins and to be raised for your justification; and for His sake forgives you all your sins. This I declare in the name and authority of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. y Amen

P A S T O R S P E A K SIt is truly proper, right, wholesome, and beneficial that we should at all times, and in all places, give praise unto Thee, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God. But chiefly are we bound to praise you for the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; for he is the true Paschal Lamb, who was sacrificed for us, and has taken away the sin of the world. By his death he has destroyed death, and by his rising to life again he has won for us everlasting life. Therefore, with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Thy glorious Name; evermore worshipping Thee!

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,y For his steadfast love endures forever!

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,y Whom he has redeemed from trouble

And gathered in from the lands,y From the east and from the west,

From the north and from the south.y Some wandered in desert wastes,

Finding no way to a city to dwell in;y Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them.

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,y And he delivered them from their distress.

He led them by a straight wayy Till they reached a city to dwell in.

Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,y For his wondrous works to the children of man!

For he satisfies the longing soul,y And the hungry soul he fills with good things.

Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,y Prisoners in affliction and in irons,

For they had rebelled against the words of God,y And spurned the counsel of the Most High.

So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor;y They fell down, with none to help.

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,y And he delivered them from their distress.

He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,y And burst their bonds apart.

Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,y For his wondrous works to the children of man!

For he shatters the doors of bronzey And cuts in two the bars of iron.

ISAIAH 43: 1–7, 16–25

English Standard Version (ESV)

But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he

who formed you, O Israel:

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you

are mine.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and

through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you

walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall

not consume you.

For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give

Egypt as your ransom,

Cush and Seba in exchange for you.

Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love

you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your

life.

Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the

east, and from the west I will gather you.

I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not

withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the

end of the earth,

everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my

glory, whom I formed and made.”

Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea, a path in the

mighty waters, who brings forth chariot and horse, army and

warrior; they lie down, they cannot rise, they are extinguished,

quenched like a wick: “Remember not the former things, nor

consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now

it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the

wilderness and rivers in the desert. The wild beasts will honor

me, the jackals and the ostriches, for I give water in the wilder-

ness, rivers in the desert, to give drink to my chosen people,

the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare

my praise.

“Yet you did not call upon me, O Jacob; but you have been

weary of me, O Israel! You have not brought me your sheep for

burnt offerings, or honored me with your sacrifices. I have not

burdened you with offerings, or wearied you with frankincense.

You have not bought me sweet cane with money, or satisfied

me with the fat of your sacrifices But you have burdened me

with your sins; you have wearied me with your iniquities.

“I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake,

and I will not remember your sins.

y Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. Matthew 6:9–13
