He has a wide entrepreneurial vision. Good communication skills. Desire to learn as much as he can. He is not aware of work for what he wants. Commitment. He values his workforce. Projections to future. Perseverance. Humbleness. He has his feet on earth. He is innovation oriented. Proactive.Weaknesses. None.Sacrifices he made.Some of the sacrifices he made while he was building up the Calleja Group are: He didnt stop work when his father passed away. He sent his family to live in New York because of the war in El Salvador and divided his family time in half to come back to El Salvador to take care of his businesses. He never abandoned his businesses, even when he was victim of threats in times of war.Opportunities. He was privileged to have good education. Because of his fathers work, he had the opportunity to be in touch with more experienced people that gave him advice before he started his own entrepreneurship. The opportunity to acquire Selectors Caribe. The opportunity to buy a lot of supermarkets while the war was affecting El Salvador. The opportunity to buy the supermarket chain Todos in 1988. The time spent between to different realities while the war (New York El Salvador) that helped him to strengthen his entrepreneurial vision. He could take advantage of the economy of peace after the end of the war in the 90s. Alliances with international companies and organizations focused in expansion due to globalization.His moves as a business person. He bought Selectos Caribe in 1964. It was the first store as Calleja Group. Foundation of Super Selectos in 1969. The inauguration of the fifth store in 1985. Jobs generator focused. The accepted the charge of president of Sucap (Alianza de supermercados de Centroamrica y Panam) He deals with local suppliers. He dealt with a lot barriers to open new supermarket stores and with the increase of competition. He is a social committed entrepreneur. Even when he is not a Salvadorian by born, he considered himself a Salvadorian since the beginning and is really committed with the country. He believed in El Salvador as the perfect place to develop his business idea even when the economy was not that good and there were a lot of political conflicts and instability. His passion for what he does and the perseverance he showed during the hard times are the basis of the Calleja Group we know this days.
