The Fifth Beatitude:

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the childrenof God”

To the Christian, "peace" has a more broad connotation than just the cessation of hostilities.

It is a quality of mind and heart.

It is in the heart of a Christian to resolve conflict, to restore relationships - to be a peacemaker - and to reflect the God of love and peace.

The Hebrew word

"Shalom" (peace) is the greeting wishing the other the enjoyment of all good.

This beatitude blesses the peacemakers for they are doing God-like work.

This month we celebrate a long list of ex-citing events. We begin on July 2, as the

postulates who were here will receive their religious habits and their religious names. Continue to pray for them and for vocations.

July 16 is the pa-tronal feast for all our Sisters - the feast of the Lady of Mt. Carmel.

We all join to celebrate the feast of Sts. Ann and Joachim on July 26. They are the patrons of our home and had the honor to be the parents of Mary and the grandparents of Jesus.

This month already brings us to the mid-dle of the year. Let us make it our desire to be peacemakers when any opportuni-ty presents itself. Enjoy all these special days and "Happy Summer."

Sister M. Gabriela, CDJC

Emmanuel Hospice has completed its jour-ney to new office space, at 401 Hall St. SW. The Hospice team has extended invitations for an Open House, set for 3 - 6 p.m. Thurs-day, July 18.

St. Ann’s has nearly completed some minor refurbishing in the Hospice suite. When done, members of the St. Ann’s Human Re-sources, Finance and Community Relations team will move there this summer.

Those changes will allow other team mem-bers to move, decompressing some shared spaces and increasing efficiency and privacy for a number of the team and their interac-tions with residents, family members, and other clinical team members.

Residents and family members are invited to check out the new spaces, and to ask if you need help locating someone who moves.

Nurse. She started her career in an acute care hospital setting and transitioned into long term care where she has worked as a floor nurse, unit manager, wound nurse, and MDS coordinator. When Kelsey is not at work she enjoys spending time with her family as well as finding crafts to do. She is always try-ing to find things around her house to “redo” or “fix."

When asked why St. Ann’s, Kelsey said, “I am already in love with the culture at St. Ann’s, everyone is so friendly. Each person I have met so far has a smile on their face.”

Megan Justice is the new Human Re-sources Coordinator, who recently joined St. Ann's. Megan graduated from Grand Valley State University with a bachelor's degree in communication studies. She recently served as a recruiter in the area healthcare industry.

Megan is passionate about people and coffee. She loves to help people find roles that perfectly fit their strengths and pas-sions.

When not at work, Megan enjoys time with friends and family, playing cards, and she loves to read. Her talents include Hula Hooping and small talk (though not at the same time).

When asked why St. Ann's she said, "St. Ann's is an incredible organization and I am excited to be a part of the impact that it is already making for individuals and families in West Michigan."

St. Ann’s leaders and staff from our Memory Garden design firm continue with detailed plans and the process to obtain necessary city building permits. Plans remain on track to break ground this summer, to first remove paving and concrete in the Garden space.

When permits are approved, contractors will remove the parking surface and prepare the site for new soil, grading, and irrigation. Meantime, the Garden project will be fea-tured in St. Ann’s summer magazine, where potential donors will learn about the full scope of the project, including projected costs and opportunities to support Garden construction, including specific giving ideas. For more information about the Garden or giving opportunities, please contact Sister Gabriela or Dana Prince. While the Garden

is the current, primary philanthropic focus, the Advisory Board has re-invigorated its De-velopment Committee, which is in the early stages of determining long-range develop-ment plans. A rendering is shown below.
