CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS: PUBLIC CROCHET LIGHT ART PROJECT SHARJAH ISLAMIC ARTS FESTIVAL 2017-2018 We are looking for experienced crocheters to help crochet panels for our large scale public light art project to be displayed during the 10th Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival in conjunction with the Sharjah Art Museum in UAE this December. The sculpture, “The Flying Mosque,” is about 30ft x 90ft and will be installed near Dubai at a highly visible landmark, the amphitheater in Sharjah, UAE from Dec. 2017 to Jan 2018. The details of this project can be seen at: www.FlyingMosque.org. Our design calls for 10 different patterned panels that will be joined in our studio in Boston, then installed in early December in UAE. This is our 3rd large scale international crochet project following our previous projects, “The Lace” in Amsterdam and “The Urchins” in Singapore.
