    Dear Fellow Atenean,

    From August 1 to 7, 2011, 500 delegates from around the world would take part in the

    2nd University Scholars Leadership Symposium to discuss humanitarian issues and learnabout humanitarian service management.

    The symposium is a five-day International Humanitarian Training Program for Outstanding Students of globally recognized colleges. The organizer of which is theHumanitarian Affairs United Kingdom, a social enterprise and a member of the WorldOrganization of Non-Governmental Organizations and the World Alliance for CitizensParticipation. 1

    The delegates of the Symposium have been tasked to establish a HumanitarianAffairs Club by the events organizer. Having such a club in the Ateneo De ManilaUniversity would allow for more Ateneans to participate in Global Outreach Programs for children in poverty-stricken and disaster-prone countries. Other works under thefacilitation of the Humanitarian Affairs UK include providing soup kitchens, buildingschools, libraries, and educating children from disadvantaged backgrounds. 2

    To initiate this Humanitarian Affairs Club, an EXCO committee must first be formed.This is where you can help us out by applying to be part of the committee and be afounding member of the club. As an overview, below is the list of positions required of theEXCO committee:

    President1st Vice-President (Administration)2nd Vice-President (Operation)SecretaryTreasurerCommittee Member (Special Events) for Recruitment, Exhibition, Talks,

    Roadshow, etc.(Publicity) for websites, newsletters, blog, twitter, e-

    brochures, etc(Fund-Raising)(Humanitarian Work)

    Application would also entail that you are willing to participate in the symposium andare open to taking a leadership role in the symposium. Accepted members of the EXCOcommittee will be able to attend the 2 nd University Scholars Leadership Symposium inPattaya, Thailand with the following privileges:

    You will be exempted from the normal selection when you apply. Organizers will provide you with the same rates as the early-bird registration fee 3.

    The Chief Executive of Humanitarian Affairs United Kingdom will present.Certificates of Appointment to all EXCO members and will host a private dinner intheir honour during the Symposium in Thailand.

    Delegates are required to pay the registration fee and take care of their own travelarrangements . Registration fee covers 6 nights of accommodation in a 4-star hotel;

    breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks for 5 days; one t-shirt; one training material; one day of Experiential learning program; one self-discovery journal; airport transfer; localtransportation; welcome banquet; a farewell party and a certificate of participation. 4
