Survey Methodology
The 2014 CPCA Compensation and Benefits survey is an online survey. Data collection was done in September and October 2014. About 110 clinic corporations were contacted as potential survey respondents, of which 95 responded. The final deadline for submitting the survey was October 2014. Forms that were incomplete or received after the deadline were not included in the analysis.
The 2014 survey questionnaire experienced a few changes compared to the 2013 survey questionnaire. The number of job positions surveyed were reduced from 84 positions to 72 positions. Most questions continued to be the same as the previous year. The 2014 survey questionnaire was reviewed and approved by CPCA staff and The Human Resources Peer Network. Final results were tabulated by Episteme International, an independent consultant, and the report compiled in January 2015.

Definitions
Here are definitions of terms used throughout the survey:
Responses: The number of clinics providing data for a particular job title. Employees: Total number of employees reported for a particular title Vacancies: Number of vacancies available by job title Average Base Salary: Average obtained by adding individual values for all responses to a particular job title and dividing by the total number of responses. Due the varying number of employees for each job title, a weighted means calculation was used. Median: Calculated by arranging all responses for a particular job title in numerical order and selecting the value that falls exactly in the middle. Formal Range Minimum: Average reported low end of the salary range for a particular job title Formal Range Maximum: Average reported high end of the salary range for a particular job title Average % Increase: Most recent annual percentage compensation increase for a particular job title. Please note that if you find outliers in the data, for example, an average base salary for a particular job title that is much higher or lower than you expect, please contact Disha Zaidi, (see below for contact information). CPCA would like to thank all clinics that participated in the survey. We welcome your feedback and suggestions regarding the survey, and look forward to your participation next year.

Participant Profiles The charts show data for the 95 organizations that participated in the survey.1 Charts include data for the number of FTEs employed by an organization, the operating budget, number of encounters reported to the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD), clinic location by county and rural/ urban/ frontier designations, and the number of years the clinic has been in operation.
Participants by FTE size (n=95)
Participants by OSHPD Encounters (n=95)
1 Some charts have less than 95 as the number of respondents (n) due to missing data i.e. not all clinics provided this information.
