o 1971: wild horses and burros were found on 5.1 million acres of BLM land in California. o Today: wild horses and burros exist on just 2 million acres. o Net loss: 3.1 million acres. o Source: BLM
14 x More Livestock on BLM Land in California than Wild Horses and Burros:
o 1,735 wild horses and 465 burros allowed to graze on 2 million acres (Source: BLM) o 31,878 cow/calf pairs (annual equivalent) allowed to graze on 8.1 million acres of BLM land
in California. (Source: BLM) o 382,546 Animal Unit Months (AUMs) forage for livestock vs. 26,440 AUMs for wild horses

None of BLMs Herd Management Areas in California are being managed with PZP fertility control. The BLM has done little more than token and sporadic applications of PZP to wild mares in California.
