Father, I have knowledge. Will You show me now how to use it wisely and find a way somehow, to make the world I live in a little better place and make life with its problems, a little bit easier to face. Grant me faith and courage, put purpose in my days, and show me how to serve Thee in effective ways, so my education, my knowledge, and my skill may find their true fulfillment as I learn to do Thy will. And may I ever be aware in everything I do, that knowledge comes from learning, and wisdom comes from You. Amen. St. Charles Borromeo | www.scborromeo.org

An Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy
Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You
into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You
sacramentally, come at least spiritually into
my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.
PARENTS: Please remember that in these difficult and uncertain times, YOU are the best model of faith for
your child. Even if you don't make time to do religious education activities at home, you can still model and teach what it looks like to pray, talk to Jesus, and practice our faith.
Don't wait until they are not around to quietly say your prayers—invite them to pray with you!
You are the best model of what having faith is for them!
MINISTERS NEEDED When Church Resumes the Celebration of Public Mass. The diocesan protocols for resuming the Celebration
of Public Mass recognize the vulnerability of those who are 65 & older and/or have underlying medical conditions as considered to be high risk if they
contract Covid-19. Therefore, in order to protect those considered ‘high risk,’ the church dispenses the obligation of Mass and strongly recommends such
groups to remain home.
The diocesan protocols provide instruction for celebrating Public Mass when it is deemed reasonably safe to resume. Without the involvement of those 65 and
older, this will leave gaps in needed church ministries. Therefore, I am appealing to our middle-aged and younger parishioners to come forward and volunteer
to serve. One of the biggest needs will be ushers. While our ushers will not be passing the collection basket for contributions, they will be the initial contact
with our parishioners attending Mass and seating them according to social distancing. Our ushers will also play a significant role during the distribution of
Holy Communion and people exiting church at the end of Mass. Other ministries in need of volunteers are Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors.
I ask that you pray about these opportunities to serve your parish and listen to the Holy Spirit’s call in your lives. Please contact Tandy at the parish office
(phone: 464-3395 or email: [email protected]) to offer your service. I will be scheduling training dates & times in each parish soon.

Message From Bishop Nickless
Instructions for Resuming Public Mass
Please go to https://scdiocese.org/resuming-mass-protocols or our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/
Bishop Advises: Mass Suspension Remains in Effect “All four Iowa bishops signed a joint statement continuing the suspension of public Masses across the
state for an undetermined time period in response to a resolution issued by Gov. Reynolds, authorizing
public church services at the discretion of spiritual leadership. Bishop Nickless further declares that
he, his advisors, and the diocesan COVID task force will monitor public health data on a national,
state, and regional basis daily and that all decisions in regards to returning to public liturgies in the
Sioux City Diocese will be based on science, data, and CDC and public health recommendations.”
“The dispensation for the Sunday obligation to
attend Mass remains for the time being. The task
force is developing an action plan to return to public
Masses when it is safe to do so, taking into account
safety measures and liturgical practice.”
