    Revolutionising calf rearing Pure Concentrate

    Calf Xtreme uses selected high quality ingredients at a high dose rate of 12 billion cfu/dose. It is strong enough to have an impact on the health and growth rates of your calves. It is preserved as a dry powder with ingredients being activated inside the calf where they are needed.

    A unique combination of: • 5 selected strains of Probiotic bacteria micro-encapsulated to get

    Helps Boost the Immune system Because the probiotic bacteria are micro-encapsulated they can pass through calves stomachs undigested to get to the lower gastro- Intestinal (GI) tract. Here they proliferate and it is in the lower GI tract where 75 – 80% of all mammals’ antibodies are produced. Daily seeding of these bacteria are needed to inhabit the GI tract and proliferate, thereby helping to exclude pathogens and boost the immune system.

    Helps improve digestion A new born Friesian calf only has the capacity to hold 1.2 litres of milk in its Abomasum. Therefore even on twice a day feeding in typical New Zealand rearing systems milk is being stored in the Rumen. In the Abomasum the ingredients of Calf Xtreme are helping digestion but in the Rumen the specific yeast used is protecting the calf from acidosis and digestive upsets.

    In a university of Toulouse trial on cows that were fed 28kg DM/day the same yeast was equally effective as sodium bicarbonate at stabilizing rumen PH but it did it by stimulating lactate utilizing bacteria. As a result the yeast group had 67% less lactate (acidosis forming) than the sodium bicarbonate group. In addition to stimulating lactate utilizing bacteria the yeast stimulated cellulose digesting bacteria.

    This would explain why in calves farmers are noticing that their calves are growing faster and getting onto meal and grass earlier.

    This further accelerates the growth of young calves revolutionizing calf rearing.

    Rumen development An autopsy was done on an Angus heifer that had been fed BioPro from birth. She dressed 0ut at 250 kg at 14 months.
