MPRE Registration Deadline is September 10, 2014 (MPRE Exam is on November 1,

2014) The Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) is a two hour multiple choice exam administered by the National Conference of Bar Examiners. It is required for admission to the California State Bar as well as almost every other jurisdiction. The next MPRE date is November 1, 2014. If you register by September 10, it costs $80. (The late registration deadline is September 25,

2014 and costs $160.) Exam information and registration may be found at the following website: http://www.ncbex.org/about-ncbe-exams/mpre/mpre-registration/

Disability Resource Program Deadlines Do you think you might have an undiagnosed disability? Are you receiving treatment for or in the process of getting diagnosed with Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, a Learning Disability or any other so-called “hidden” or “invisible” disability?

DON’T WAIT TO CONTACT THE DISABILITY RESOURCE PROGRAM (DRP) TO REQUEST ACCOMMODATIONS! By law and to ensure the integrity of the program, registering with DRP to determine eligibility and accommodations must be an interactive, deliberative and collaborative process. At a minimum, this includes meeting with the Director for a comprehensive eligibility and access planning meeting (a.k.a., an intake meeting), and reviewing relevant documentation. It is not meant to be an onerous process, but it can take time. Therefore, students are urged to contact DRP at [email protected] or 415-565-8948 early in the semester to initiate this process. Students are advised to schedule an intake appointment to occur no later than Thursday, September 18, 2014 for timely consideration of classroom-based accommodation requests for the fall semester. The deadline for completing your registration with DRP is Friday, October 31, 2014 – but if you haven’t begun the process well in advance of that date, you may be

too late to receive accommodations for final exams. Please refer to the UC Hastings website at http://www.uchastings.edu/about/admin-offices/disability-resource-program/index.php for more information.

Committees on campus are looking for Student Representatives! Student representatives are needed for several committees on campus. If you are interested in serving on one of the committees below, please send an email to [email protected] expressing so and include a few sentences explaining why you think you'd be a good representative on that committee. If you are chosen to serve on a committee, you must attend the majority of the committee's meetings and give a status report at a General Body ASUCH meeting one time per a semester.

Curriculum Committee (Chair: Professor Freshman; one member needed) – Evaluate Hastings’ course offerings and give

student input on what classes are needed.

200 Building Planning Committee (Chair: David Seward; two more members needed) – As the first and sixth floors of the

200 Building are renovated and repurposed, and the basement of 198 is being reconfigured, we need student voices to ensure that campus space is organized in a way that supports student needs.

Educational Effectiveness (Chair: Professor King; one member needed)

Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) (Chair: Laurie Brookner; one member needed) – Are you interested in

providing feedback to Student Health Services regarding medical services and the student health insurance policy? If so, consider applying to be a student-at-large member of the Student Health Advisory Committee. This group will meet approximately 3-5 times during the academic year to review Student Health Services practices and make recommendations to be submitted to UCSHIP regarding student health insurance coverage. Please submit a letter of interest AND RESUME TO Laurie Brookner, RN, Manager. Deadline for submission is September 24, 2014

Integrated Branding and Marketing Committee (Chair: Alex Shapiro, Bryan Zerbe; one-three members needed) – The

Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) committee seeks interested students to help us see UC Hastings through your eyes.

Our goal is to build clout for UC Hastings through marketing and messaging in such a way that a) is both true and compelling; b) instills school pride in current students; and c) generates highly engaged audiences that can then be tapped as leads by Admissions, the Career Office, and Advancement.

Midterm exams are coming up! If you want to use a laptop computer for your exams, you must install and register this year’s version of ExamSoft (last year’s version has expired). The link to the UC Hastings ExamSoft site and general information can be found at http://uchastings.edu/about/admin-offices/records/exams/computer-exams/index.php . If you have a problem, please drop by the IT help desk, room 440 in the library between 8 am and 7 pm M-TH or 8 am and 5 pm Friday. MAC users: do not install the new Yosemite operating system until we email you when ExamSoft notifies us that it is supported.

Spring Exam/Bluebook Return Last spring’s exams will be returned M-F Sept. 2 - Sept. 8 between 10 am and 4 pm in room B8 (by the locker rooms) in the 198 bldg.

1Ls, please stop by room B8 with your UC Hastings ID during those hours and pick up the exam ID number that you will need for your Oct. 1 midterm exam.

Janitorial Services Benchmark Survey UC Hastings has kicked off a new contract with ABM as our janitorial services provider. In order to best manage the quality of services provided, UC Hastings and ABM wish to jointly establish a benchmark for the level of cleanliness of the campus. We ask you, the Hastings community, to provide a letter grade for specific campus locations, as well as an overall grade, as listed in the survey. It’s a quick, easy and valuable piece of quality assurance for this contract. Janitorial Services Benchmark Survey https://uchastings.co1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_9uWKMKeVCt4cL9b

This is a one-time survey to express how you view the current level of cleanliness at UC Hastings. UC Hastings Facilities Management and ABM thank you in advance for helping us to benchmark these important services. The Survey is live through Friday, 9/12 (5:00 p.m.)

For ongoing janitorial service comments, we’ve also established an online comment box with mobile capabilities, as detailed in this week’s Weekly.

Campus Cleanliness Comment Box New this year is an online “comment box” related to our campus cleanliness level. Please use the QR code or the link to offer a compliment, register a complaint or provide an observation.
