Principal’s Report ‘Sharing Your Thoughts’ Parent Survey - At Strathfieldsaye PS, we really value parent feedback so we would like to give you the opportunity to share your thoughts about a range of topics including funding allocations for certain curriculum programs; the schools involvement in extra-curricula activities; and opportunities for increasing parent engagement in student learning initiatives.
We would also love to hear your thoughts about our current fundraising activities and any new ideas you might have about raising funds for our school. Please click on the following survey link Sharing Your Thoughts Parent Survey and complete the survey before Monday 8th April, so that we can collate the information over the holidays and use your feedback to help guide our direction over the remainder of the year. If you would prefer to complete a paper copy of the survey, please pop into the Office to collect it or give us a call and we can arrange for one to be sent home with you child.
We have had 58 responses at this point in time and we are hoping for even more over the next few days. The responses we have received so far have clearly shown that our school community values special events such as the Twilight Fair, Trivia Night and Lapathon. The results are also reflecting the value that our community places on our swimming program each year.
As a result of this feedback. we will definitely be able to commit to holding a Twilight Fair later on this year and we will also make the necessary arrangements for all our students to participate in the swimming program at the end of the year.
Visit to the Shrine of Remembrance - Yesterday, our Grade 5/6 Junior School Council members, our Schools Captains, Mrs Gibson and Ms Cunniff represented Strathfieldsaye Primary School at an excursion to the Shrine of Remembrance for the school ceremony which was very kindly funded and organised by Legacy Victoria. Our School Captains laid a wreath in front of the internal flame and then all the students had the opportunity to tour the museum.
ANZAC Day Commemorative Assembly and ANZAC Day Appeal - On Thursday 25th April, our School Captains will be representing the school at the Bendigo ANZAC Day Commemorative Service and on Friday 26th April our student leaders will be running a special assembly at 2.35pm at school to commemorate ANZAC Day. ANZAC Day Appeal badges and wristbands will also be available for purchase at the office.
Hot Cross Buns Delivery This year we partnered with Strathfieldsaye Bakery to bring you delicious Hot Cross Buns. For every 6 pack purchased the School received $1 with all funds raised being used to purchase Take Home Readers for grades Prep to 4. A total of $172.00 was raised - thankyou!. Hot Cross Buns will be distributed from the office on Friday April 5th, the last day of Term 1, from 2pm.
School Photos - School Photos were distributed last week. Orders for Student Leadership groups are now being taken and must be submitted and paid for at the office by Friday 5th April.
School Gates - Earlier this year we had gates installed around the front and side of the school to help ensure the safety of all students, especially those with additional needs. Over the holidays we will be installing ’Please Close the Gate’ signs to help remind everyone to close the gate once they have walked through. If you see the gates open at any time we would really appreciate your support in in closing them for us!

On Multi Cultural Day Dion Drummond came and showed us a lot of different aboriginal dances and some objects like the boomerang. He got students to come up and he showed them dances. He also showed us a grass skirt. It was a lot of fun learning about all the dances and listening to the different words that they use even though we come from the same country. It was very fun and I learnt a lot.—Zoe Room 27
During the past few weeks….. Grade 1 and 2 students completed colour worksheets Grade 3 and 4 accomplished the 12 Chinese zodiac activities and started learning names of
family members. Grade 5 and 6 have also done fantastically in term of family members by using Quizlet and
Kahootz. Well done to all students for such a tremendous term!
“Lemonade Springs” - Created by Grade 2 Inspired from reading “ TomTom” Rosemary Sullivan’s picture storybook capturing the rich, full life of a small
boy living in a remote Aboriginal community in Australia’s Top End. Every day he swims with his brothers, sisters,
and cousins in the cool, clear water of the Lemonade Springs.
Students gained inspiration from Bronwyn Brancroft illustrations in the picture storybook “Shapes of Australia.
Students were asked to consider why the spring was called Lemonade and asked to depict the bubbling water
using collage.
The Junior School Council organised Pyjama Day which was held today. Students had the opportunity to wear their pyjamas to school in return for donating a gold coin or a can of food which will be donated to Bendigo Food Share, a supportive charity that delivers food and meals for those in

Congratulations to Sophie from Room 14.
The March Charge is a fun personal fitness challenge that has an enormous impact on how cancer is researched and treated. Just by walking or running for Cancer Council during the month of March, funds raised assist with cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support services. Grade 5 students had a choice of being with a partner or a small group to conquer the goal of walking/running 50km in March. Students tracked their progress throughout the month and used the
data within Maths lessons. A total of 2200km was travelled by students and teachers with
every student and their partner conquering 50km. In addition, students collected 5c pieces for this cause and raised
