About
Goals After School About
My full name is Caleb Elihu
Warren. I attended Promon-
tory for 2 years in 7th and 8th
grade, from the first year the
school was in operation. I am
currently a senior at Venture
High School, and I am set to
graduate in June. I will then
be shipping out for boot camp
at Marine Corps Recruit De-
pot, San Diego in August.
The goals I have for the future
are to finish strong this school
year, to get honors in passage,
to continue improving my fit-
ness so I can more easily face
the challenges in boot camp, to
earn the title of Marine, and go
into the reserves. Then I’ll go
to college, obtain a bachelors
degree at Weber State, and get
a commission as a 2nd Lieuten-
ant in the Marine Corps. After
I'm done with the corps, I
would like to move right into a
career that would help me
make a difference and achieve
success (I am strongly consider-
ing moving into law-practice).
I fill my after school hours with
play rehearsals, work at Mad-
dox in Perry, work around the
home, physical training with
other Marine Corps enlistees,
routine exercise at home, and
hiking in the mountains above
my house.

Extracurricular
The two most important extracur-
ricular activities I have been in-
volved in during High School are
Drama and Debate. I have been
involved in 4 shows put on by the
Venture Theatre Company, as a
spotlight operator in Legends of
Sleepy Hollow, a supporting actor
and understudy for Harold Hill in
the Music Man, the lead role in 15
Minute Hamlet, and I am currently
preparing to play Tevye in Fiddler
on the Roof this April. I have been
involved in debate for four years,
starting in 9th grade, and have
competed in Lincoln-Douglas,
Spar, Congress, and Original Ora-
tory. Both Drama and Debate
have been enormous fun and have
helped me grow immensely as a
person, and I would recommend
both to anyone interested in
sharpening their wits and develop-
ing social-skills.
Accomplishments Promontory
The accomplishments I am most
proud of have been heavily school
-based in most instances. I am
proud of my achievements in the
drama program, being able to act
as lead characters in two plays. I
am especially proud of my debate
record. In my 10th Grade year, I
received 3rd place at a National
Qualifiers tournament, making me
the runner up for Nationals. This
year at our Region tournament, I
took 1st place in Congress and 2nd
place in Original Oratory, and at
the State tournament this year, I
took 1st place in Original Oratory
and 2nd place in Congress, and my
debate team became the State
Champions for 2A schools. I am
also proud of my academic perfor-
mance, doing well in my classes,
and performing well on tests, with
a 31 on the ACT, a 1700+ lexile
score, and a 96 on the ASVAB. I'd
say the final accomplishment I am
very proud of is passing the
screening process and taking the
Oath of Enlistment for service in
the Marine Corps.
I'd say one of my favorite memo-
ries from Promontory was going
to Goblin Valley with Mr. Wallis,
especially during the rainstorm
we were able to experience on
the night of our arrival.
Fieldwork and Expeditions
I'd say the most memorable
fieldwork I participated in was
an intensive with Mr. Rob,
where we went to the Desert
Experimental Range near Mil-
ford, and gathered data about
and enjoyed the natural de-
sert setting. It was quite an
experience. In addition, I was
able to terrify some of my
classmates in the basement of
one of the old buildings.
Expeditionary learning at
Promontory really helped me
continue to develop my love
of learning by giving me a
more organic environment to
do it in, and it also helped pre-
pare me for coming to Ven-
ture, which has been by far my
most important school experi-
ence in terms of helping me
find myself and push outside
of my comfort zones.
Promontory Tools for Success
I would say find your interests, a
subject or task that you don't find
dull, that you can really get into
without significant effort. Special-
ize, and develop your passions,
find something that you can be
good at, and work at it. Use it to
develop your strength and work
ethic, and apply that ethic to oth-
er areas of your life that you may
not enjoy as much. Always be
ready to make friends. Always be
kind; you never know what kind
of a day someone is having, and
you can make the difference be-
tween a good and a bad day. Find
someone that you don't normally
talk with. Introduce yourself, ask
them their name. Say hello to
them every day. Always push to
be better tomorrow than you
were yesterday, and never, ever
give up.
