Marinella di Pizzo A mezza via tra il golfo di S. Eufemia e il golfo di Gioia Tauro troviamo Tropea, Pizzo e Marinella di Pizzo, particolari località che fronteggiano il mare. Qui è la natura che detta legge con fi oriture dai colori acce-si, l’aroma degli agrumi, il balsamico sentore della fresca ombra.In questa terra ospitale e generosa l’uomo rimane legato a vicissitudini storiche millenarie. Molte le testimo-nianze: dal cuore di Pizzo la baia è do-minata dal Castello Aragonese del XV sec. altrimenti noto come il Castello di Gioacchino Murat, Re di Napoli, cogna-to di Napoleone, che fu ucciso all’inter-no delle sue mura.Famosa anche la Chiesetta di Piedigrotta, scolpita a mano alla fi ne del 1600 da artisti pizzitani. Un capolavoro interamente scavato nel tufo per celebrare la Madonna raffi gurata in un quadro giunto sulla spiaggia a seguito di un naufragio.

Between St. Euphemia’s Gulf and Gioia Tauro’s Gulf there are Tropea, Pizzo and Pizzo Marina front to the sea. Here nature imposes itself with bright coloured blooms, the aroma of citrus fruits, the balsamic scent of the cool shade. In this warm and prodigal land, you will be tan-gled in the millennial historical vicissitudes that took place in here; you could visit the Aragonese Castle of the 15th Century that overlooks the bay, where lived Gioacchino Murat, King of Naples, Napole-on’s brother in law. It is also famous and inte-resting the Church of Piedigrotta, hand-sculpted by local artists: a masterpiece entirely hand-dug into the stone at the end of 1600 to celebrate the Virgin Mary depicted in a painting arrived on the beach after a shipwreck.

Знаменитая церковь Chiesetta di Piedigrotta вырубленная в скале талантливыми руками местных архитекторов в конце 1600 года. С рельефов стен церкви выступает масса фигур, созданных из цельной породы туфа, в том числе уникальная статуя девы Марии.

La cucina pizzitana è famo-sa per i piatti di pesce, i formaggi e i salumi, in particolare la n’duja, un sa-lame piccante alla base di molte pie-tanze tipiche insieme alla cipolla rossa

di Tropea. Da oltre un secolo viene qui prodotto il Tartufo, gelato artigianale alla

nocciola, con cioccolato fondente e cacao.

The “pizzitana” kitchen is famous for its fi sh dishes, cheeses and cured meats, especially n’duja, a spicy salami at the base of many dishes along with the red tropean onion. For over a century is here produced the truffl e, homemade hazelnut ice cream,

with dark chocolate and cocoa.
