Day 2 Cairo-Memphis (B) Visit Memphis, Saqqara and Giza to marvel at the only remaining "original" anicent wonder of the world! Depart early for the former capital of Egypt, Memphis, then explore the Necropolis of Saqqara, site of the Djoser pyramid. Eat lunch en route to Giza; upon arrival explore the Great Pyramid of Cheops, and the pyramids of Chepren and Mycerinus. You can even view them all from atop a camel! Day 3 O/N train to Aswan (B) Today we wander Coptic Cairo, the oldest part of the city, with the option to visit the Coptic museum, ancient churches and a synagogue. Taxi to Khan el Khalili, Cairo’s buzzing bazaar, to barter, drink coffee or smoke sheesha. On Wednesday and Saturday evenings enjoy a free show featuring the famous whirling dervishes. Day 4-5 Aswan-Elephantine Island (B) Make several optional excursions to sites surrounding Aswan, including Philae Temple and the High Dam, or take a felucca trip to Elephantine Island. In the afternoon wander the market or chill out by the pool. The next day, set out early for an optional trip to the temples of Abu Simbel, on the shores of Lake Nasser. Return to Aswan in the afternoon. Day 6-8 Luxor (2B) Visit the well preserved temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu,before our arrival in Luxor. We take a donkey ride to explore the ancient Valley of the Kings. There is plenty of time to explore, including the centrally located Luxor temple,the quirky mummification museum, and not forgetting the grandest of them all - Karnak Temple.

Day 9 CairoToday is free for further exploration of Cairo. Head up to the citadel area and wander back through traditional Old Cairo, or spend time with coffee and perhaps a sheesha pipe at one of the city's many cafes watching the world go by.

Day 10 Depart Cairo (B)
