Partnering with as many registered training organisations as possible, they launched I Want That Course in 2010 to become the one stop shop for training Australia wide. Aligned with over twenty national training providers, I Want That Course offers over 200 training courses, both online and in campuses around Australia. “We are a Sales and Marketing machine,” says Krystal. “We provide enrolments to our partners, but at the same time we help our customers – the students – compare the courses so that they enrol in the right one for them to get the career outcomes they are seeking.” I Want That Course’s free service makes it easy for students trying to find the most suitable course option. “We step them through the process and ensure that they have the right training organisation and right training course that will meet their career outcomes,” adds Krystal. A recent refocus of their business model has enabled I Want That Course to concentrate on the VET FEE-HELP program. Similar to HECS offered at university, VET FEE-HELP enables students to enrol in a Diploma or Advanced Diploma course with no upfront fee. Once students start earning over $54,126, the Government will then deduct extra tax from their pay over a period of time to pay off the course debt. “Traditionally you always had to pay for your qualifications,” explains Krystal. “This is a better way now for people to be able to invest in their future.” With courses available at campuses nationwide or online, many people are seeking the flexibility and convenience of studying from home. Popular courses such as the Diploma of Beauty Therapy combine online study with work placement options. “How it works is you do all your theory online, then you do work placement in a salon that has clients and you’re supervised by a qualified beautician,” says Krystal. With the goal for next year firmly set on becoming Australia’s leading educational sales and marketing provider, according to Krystal the big picture for I Want That Course is to be game ready to launch globally. “We’re actually looking at New Zealand and the United Kingdom, so watch this space,” says Krystal. With the philosophy of the business echoed in their slogan “Change the course of your life”, this proudly Cairns owned and operated company will continue helping people in Australia change their future - one course at a time. In keeping with I Want that Course’s fun-filled corporate culture, all 80 guests attended the event in compulsory onesie costumes. On hand to give a presentation and thank the company for its loyalty to the Cairns region was Cr Linda Cooper, Councillor for Division 6. I Want that Course have 58 employees nationwide, with the heart of the operation in Cairns. “We’ve got 50 staff here,” says General Manager Krystal King. “Just a year ago we only had 14, so it’s significant growth.” The party was a huge success, with employees, partners, children, friends and other stakeholders celebrating the fruits of hard labour, strong management and a positive growth strategy. It’s not often that you get the chance to change the course of a person’s life, for the team at I Want That Course, it’s a daily occurrence.
