ENERGY

Later people learned to harness the energy of animals to aid them in doing work.

Machines were invented to do numerous works easier and faster.

A person is said to be energetic when he or she does many things with out getting tired easily.

INTRODUCTION:

WHAT IS ENERGY?

CHAPTER 1

WHAT IS ENERGY?

• ENERGY

-Is the capacity to do work.

FORM/S OF ENERGY

FORMS OF ENERGY

• MECHANICAL ENERGY– Mechanical energy is the energy that is

possessed by an object due to its motion or due to its position.

• The pendulum possesses Mechanical energy because when it is at rest it is in the state of Potential energy at point 1 and point 3, when it in motion it is in the state of Kinetic energy at point 2.

• KINETIC ENERGY

-the energy possessed by an object in motion.

TWO CLASSIFICATION OF MECHANICAL ENERGY

TWO CLASSIFICATION OF MECHANICAL ENERGY

• POTENTIAL ENERGY

-the energy possessed by an object at rest.

-potential energy exist in different forms.

EXAMPLE!!!

A ball above the table.

The ball above the table possessesPotential energy that depends on its mass and its distance from the ground.

CHAPTER 2:

FORMS OF POTENTIAL ENERGY

• GRAVITATIONAL POTENTIAL ENERGY

-is the energy possessed by an object

Due to its position above the ground.

The structure possessesPotential energy that depends on its mass and its distance or height from the ground.

EXAMPLE!!!

FORMS OF POTENTIAL ENERGY

• CHEMICAL ENERGY

-is the energy possessed by the atoms or molecules of a substance and is later on change into other forms when the substance becomes involved in a chemical reaction.

The food that you eat that contains stored energy that becomes converted in another form in digestion and provides energy to work..

EXAMPLE!!!

FORMS OF POTENTIAL ENERGY

• ELASTIC POTENTIAL ENERGY

- is the energy possessed any elastic material due to its condition.

EXAMPLE!!!

Work is done on the spring when it is compressed and in the process of it acquires potential energy. This energy depends on the average force required to compress it and the distance from its normal length.
