Jason M. Marquez, CCAM, CMCA, is the President ofCJM Association Services, Inc., and is also serving asthe Immediate Past President and Secretary of theCAI Bay Area & Central California Board of Directors. In several years of CAI board service, Jason has alsoserved as the Chairperson for the EducationCommittee for two years as well as working on a number of othercommittees.  Having been raised and coached by industry professionals(and CJM Founders) Charlene and Joe Marquez, Jason feels that he hasHOA Management "in the blood."  Prior to joining the CJM team inJanuary 2008, Jason's Corporate America career spanned well over adecade, and moved him to all corners of the country, working in ProjectManagement at AT&T and in Claims Management with ProgressiveInsurance.

Here's the latest from Sacramento: 

The legislature reconvenes for the secondhalf of the 2 year session in the first week ofJanuary.  New bills will be introduced andthere are dozens of others that were held

over from 2015 that need to be heard in policy or fiscal committees.

One bill, AB 1335, is one of those "2 year" bills.  It levies a $75 "fee" onrecorded documents.  CAI­CLAC registered its opposition to this bill sinceassociations record many documents every year.  The bill failed to get therequisite number of votes to pass from the Assembly and will likely notmove ahead unless it is amended to remove the opposition from the

Republican Caucus as those members deem the fee to be a new tax...Continued.
