Birmingham students' artwork showcased at Coloring the Cahaba Art Fest on April 13
Silent auction and dual discounted memberships to be offered at Friends Bookstore (second floor)
in Birmingham Public Library – Central Location
Birmingham, Alabama (March 19, 2014)— Coloring the Cahaba Art Fest & Silent Auction is showcasing
Birmingham students’ artwork based on the prompt, "How does the Cahaba River color your world?" On
Sunday, August 13, 2:30-‐4:30 p.m, students’ paintings, drawings, photography, 3D models and digital art
will be available for purchase in a silent auction. 100% proceeds benefit CRS. The event will be held in the
Friends Bookstore at Birmingham Public Library (BPL) – Central, 2100 Park Pl., Birmingham, AL 35203.
Students’ artwork will be printed in a book to be donated to BPL and the school with the most
submissions. Prizes will be awarded to the most creative artists in a competition with age categories.
Food, drinks, entertainment and discounted dual memberships will be available at Coloring the Cahaba
Art Fest. Event donors include Alabama Theatre, Belk, Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Cahaba Brewing
Co., Carmike Cinemas, Chick-‐fil-‐A, McWane Science Center, Richard Joseph Salon Spa at Belk, Sloss
Furnace and Whole Foods.
Coloring the Cahaba Art Fest is possible with the partnership of CRS, Birmingham Public Library
(BPL) and Friends of the Birmingham Public Library (FotBPL). For the first time CRS and FotBPL are
teaming up to offer discounted dual memberships that will be exclusively offered at Coloring the Cahaba
Art Fest. Discounted dual memberships include a membership to Cahaba River Society, a membership to
Friends of the Birmingham Public Library, Friends member sticker on a keychain card, recognition in
FotBPL's Annual Report, special email alerts and newsletters.
The following dual discounted memberships will be available:
BFF (12 and under)-‐ $5 (reg. $20)
Student/Teacher-‐ $10 (reg $25)
Individual-‐ $40 (reg. $55)
Family-‐ $70 (reg. $100)
