After our grand opening celebration, the staff at Ca-gan Crossings Community Library is making preparations to host several events as part of Lake County Library System's 5th Annual Festi-val of Reading. The Festival begins on March 29th and runs through April 5th, 2008. Our first activity is called I Love Movies Marathon hosted by the Youth Services Staff in our Story room on Monday, March 31, 2008, starting at 10:00 a.m. Our next event will be A Party To Die For with a Tea Party theme. The library will host authors Jo Dereske, Claire Matturro, and Katherine Hall Page as they present Writing the Mystery and the Mystery Series: Revisiting old friends in new books. This event is catered by Sherlock’s and sponsored by the Friends of Cagan Cross-ings Community Library.
Jo Dereske is the author of sixteen published books, including two mys-tery series. For more information visit: www.jodereske.com
Claire Hamner Matturro writes a series of legal mysteries with a sense of humor. For more information go to www.clairematturro.com
Katherine Hall Page is the only author ever to be awarded an Agatha Award in the three different categories: Best First Novel, Best Short Story, and Best Novel. For more information visit her website at www.katherine-hall-page.org These experts will tell you that a good way to “break in” is with a mystery series. In planning the series, and writing that first book, there are several important things you need to know — not the least of which is how to write a good mystery for that first book — plus how to create characters you and your readers will want to be around for years. This event is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 01, 2008. Our last event is a sweet one: Ice Cream Social with Leigh Greenwood catered by Simka’s Sweets and presented by the generous support of Friends of the Cagan Crossings Community Library on Friday, April 04, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Romance author Mr. Leigh Greenwood who has been steaming up the pages of historical ro-mances for years, will be the guest at this ice cream social. For Leigh, the future is looking just as hot with his award-winning series' The Cow-boys and Seven Brides.
His first book Wyoming Wildfire was published by Zebra in 1987. Since then he’s written 40 more books and four novellas. For more information, please visit the author’s website leigh-greenwood.com

Welcome to Cagan Crossings Community Library
Our ribbon cutting event was hosted by Jeff and Sandra Cagan, representing Cagan Management Group, Lake County Commission Chairman Welton G. Cadwell and Wendy Breeden, Director of the Lake County Library System among other distinguished guests representing our community.
On opening day, the excitement was evident as members of our diverse community glanced at the many new features of Cagan Crossings Community Library. Most noticeable was the distinct area carefully crafted to suit children’s needs like the World of Discovery. Our dedi-cated staff led by our Youth Services Librarian Kerri Bottorff and Eleanor Tierney, our Chil-dren's Library Assistant, had their hands full serving youngsters and also teens in their own special area called The Space. As new members were signing up for library cards, our computers were quickly filled by our patrons and visitors. Others were exploring our collections and asking when classes will be offered in our state of the art computer lab. Everyone enjoyed several activities sponsored by our beloved Friends of the Library, ranging from cakes and refreshments, face painting, and raffles. Many expressed to our staff their desire to see this facility become a beacon and transforming force along the Highway 27 corridor from Clermont to Haines City. We are hopeful that our collection and future programs will be able to potentially impact the lives of every resident of the Four Corners area.
Members of the community gathered in front of our main entrance, waiting for the ribbon cutting cere-mony. Lake County Fire Rescue served as our color guard for this important occasion.
