La vision
D’ici 2025, l’ARC sera dotée d’un système d’instruction axé sur la simulation, combinant l’instruction réelle, virtuelle et constructive au sein d’un environnement synthétique commun connecté en réseau.
The vision
By 2025, the RCAF will have a simulation-focused training system, leveraging live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) domains within a networked common synthetic environment.

The Future Aircrew Training Project will develop and implement a new and
cohesive training program that replaces the Canadian Armed Forces’
aging and stove-piped Pilot, ACSO, and AES Op training systems.
Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) /Formation du Personnel Naviguant de
l’avenir (FPNA)

Key Project Concepts /
Concepts clés du projet
Contracting
• A competed contract ensures best value for Canada
• Separate prime contractors for onesystem limits Responsiveness and Flexibility
• Contract must outline Change Implementation Process
• Contract payments must link to performance and value received
• Flexibility to respond to long- and
short-term schedules
• Integrate current and future
technologies
• Mid-life Fleet upgrades must be considered
20
Contrat
• Compétition assurera un meilleur
retour pour le Canada
• Plusieurs contracteurs principaux
limitent le temps de réponse et la
flexibilité
• Le contract doit avoir un processus de
mise en place de changements
• Les paiements doivent être liés à la
performance
• Flexibilité à repondre aux demandes
de changements à court et long-terme
• Intégration de technologies courrantes
et futures
• La mise à niveau des appareils en
milieu de vie doit être considérée

RCAF Concerns
• Relevance
– Simulators need to be similar to the RCAF
aircraft as much as possible.
• CC177: good
• CC150: okay
• CH149: bad, diverging
• Courseware
– Need to teach what RCAF crew need.

Item Description
PerformanceAbility to provide a realistic simulation of each aircraft type to support initial, recurrent and upgrade aircrew training.
Operational Suitability
Ability to conduct training in the full-spectrum of operations in all possible environmental conditions, in a secure operational and information technology environment.
Operations TempoAbility to quickly reconfigure to support mission rehearsal in support of CAF operations worldwide.
Dynamic ControlAbility to dynamically control the aircraft simulator, consisting of the cockpit and the crew mission training components, from the instructor console to respond to situational changes and new taskings.
Interoperability Ability of the system to be interoperable with other CAF Modelling and Simulation systems.
ConnectivityAbility of the system to connect to the Virtual Battlespace and CAF common synthetic environment including common synthetic environment components such as terrain, weather and computer generated forces.
Flexibility / Growth Capacity
Ability to provide a flexible, open architecture designed so that it is easily upgradable to match all planned and future modifications to the specific aircraft.
