Course: TECH 216 - Computer Aided Design
Meeting time: 4pm-7pm Tuesday
Lab hours: upon request
Course Description: International drafting-language protocol is explored and used in solving design
problems in orthographic and pictorial presentation. Study includes basic computer-aided drafting.
Required materials:
Graph Paper
Isometric Dot Paper
Pencils (preferably mechanical)
A ruler
Triangles (30 & 45)
Ellipse Template
Circular Template
Compass
Flash Drive (USB or Jump drive)
Scissors Ex-acto Knife (or craft knife)
Masking Tape
Grading Policies
& Class Conduct:
Work must be submitted on time, if you need additional time prior to the
deadline for the assignment please contact me.
If you are not sure what assignments are due when please check the wikispace for
the class, which can be found at: http://tech216.wikispaces.com/
If you are absent please notify me as soon as possible by e-mail, and check the
wikispace to be able to complete as much of the assignments as possible prior to
next class.
Asterisked classes are extremely important due to large demonstrations, andstudents should be present unless absolutely necessary to be absent due to illness
or other dire circumstances.
The policy of this class is that after the third absence the final grade will be
dropped one letter grade.
Six absences from this class will result in a final grade of (F).
Absences are considered excused only when official documentation of the nature
of the absence is supplied by the student. (i.e. attending physicians notice, court

documents ,obituaries, field trip memo)
All exams and quizzes will be taken at the scheduled time. Make-up exams and
quizzes may not be provided unless proper documentation is presented.
Communication Devices Out of courtesy for other students and the instructor,
please silence all communication devices (phones, pagers, and PDAs, etc.) during
class time so that we may learn and work together without interruption.Final Grades:

What is CADD? What types of programs Mechanical 3d (otherwise known as
Solid Modeling with parametric dimensioning), Architectual 3d,
Prototyping 3d modeling, or 2D vector based drawing.
Major types of drawings (Multiview Drawings, Isometric Drawings,Architectual Drawings, Exploded views, assembly drawings, etc.)
Exploration of basic drafting techniques How to use graph paper grids & Trimetric grid papers
