Cartridge 57 mm L/70 Pre-Fragmented Cartridge 57 mm L/70 Pre-Fragmented High-Explosive C101 with Proximity Fuze High-Explosive C101 with Proximity Fuze For over 40 years, SNC TEC has been a leader in the manufacture and assembly of reliable high-quality ammunition and has meet the stringent operational require- ments of its clients. ISO 9001 certified since 1994, SNC TEC ensures that all its products meet the highest standards of quality, security and performance. The PFHE C101 cartridge, part of the 57mm family of naval ammunition, is a remarkable example of that result. Manufactured under BOFORS license by SNC TEC for the Canadian Forces, it is type classified by the Department of National Defence and meets all Canadian Forces requirements for safety, reliability and effectiveness. This round was specifically designed for air defence in order to optimise the volume of fragmentation delivered by each salvo of proximity-fuzed shells. The fragmentation effect of the shell is designed to give a high kill probability when bursting in proximity to aerial tar- gets. A large number of high velocity fragments are dispersed over a wide angle, thus delivering lethal splinters over large areas of the target. The shell incorporates an electronic proximity fuze, high-explosive bursting charge and a double-walled, high-grade steel body, which houses a large quantity of heavy alloy balls. Upon detonation the balls are given a high velocity and due to their low drag, and high density, achieve excellent penetration. The rear end of the shell is so formed that the fragments of the shell itself are spread out rearwards. PACKAGING Two cartridges per reusable metal cartridge clip, which interfaces with the weapon system. Each clip is packed in reusable plas- tic containers qualified to Canadian mili- tary and UN transport safety Standards. A total of 30 containers are shipped on a single pallet giving the user access to the ammunition without removing the container from the pallet. (Total 60 rounds per pallet).
