CABLE SOLUTION FOR THE RAILWAYCABLE SOLUTION FOR THE RAILWAY
THE EUROPEAN RAILWAY NETWORK IS GETTING DENSER AND THE DEMANDS FOR SAFETY ARE INCREASINGThe quality of our products for railway transportation is grounded in the long tradition in the production of communica-tion, signalling and power cables.
We produce cables: • for laying into the ground• in an aerial design• for installations in buildings• with improved properties in the event of fire for installation in tunnels or in spaces with an increased concentration
of people.
Communication and signalling cables from the PRAKAB workroom find their use in a wide range of applications, in various environments and conditions. They confirm its leading position especially by applications in railway and public transportation, further in telecommunication networks and last, but not least, in industrial electronics for controlling, sig-nalling and telecommunication systems.
Communication and signalling cables are often placed within the proximity of sources of an electromagnetic field, which can cause interference of the signals that the cables transmit. This can lead, for example, to distortion of trans-mitted information or to the transmission of a wrong signal.
REDUCTION FACTORTherefore, an important parameter of cable screening used for transmission of information is its ability to decrease the in-tensity of an electromagnetic field that flows into the cables from external sources. The degree of such a decrease is called reduction factor and there is a testing method to establish its value under the designation DIN VDE 0472-507 - Testing of cables, wires and flexible cords – Reduction factor.
The reduction factor depends on interference frequency and on screening impedance. It can achieve values from 0 to 1, while 0 means absolute elimination of interference, the reduction factor with the value of 1 corresponds to a cable without screening.

SIGNALLING AND COMMUNICATION CABLESServe for the transmission of signals between communication devices or for laying of wiring for telecommunication, con-trolling and signalling railway systems. They are used for the connection of safety devices in transportation:
• railway transport – safety devices such as traffic lights, traffic management, crossings, information systems• subway – safety devices for traffic management or connection of information systems• road transport – traffic lights, variable traffic signs, monitoring of road transport density

LFHC CABLESIn the event of fire, burning cables with PVC insulation or sheath produce dangerous dense black chlorine-containing smoke. This reacts with air moisture and forms acidic corrosive atmosphere, hazardous both for humans and for materials. In places with a high concentration of people, animals and for protection of valuable equipment/property, cables with halogen-free insulation are used. These cables are made with/without the functional integrity in the event of fire. During burning, the produced fumes are neither toxic, nor harmful for people, buildings or equipment. In addition, the optical trans-parency of the formed smoke enables a satisfactory orientation of evacuated persons as well as rescue teams. However, due to their composition the standard halogen-free sheath materials are moisture-absorbing and UV unstable. Owing to these properties, their safe use is limited to dry and sheltered indoor areas. After several years of development, PRAKAB brings forth a sheath mixture that resists moisture and UV radiation, thus causing a small revolution in the fire safety and extends the application potential even to railway tunnels, laying in the ground and outdoor unsheltered installations without a need for additional expensive arrangements eliminating undesirable influences. These cables can be clearly distinguished by the registered trademark PRAFla® together with a mark „+“. This small mark in the name of the cable can solve great problems with installations of fire routes in demanding conditions. We manufac-ture the cables with and without the functional integrity, both power cables and signalling cables, as well as data cables.
Cables without the functional integrity in the case of fire During the fire the cables do not carry the electric current or signal, however, they do not contribute to impairment of the at-mosphere in the fire area by their own burning through generating toxic gases or propagating the fire along their surface. These properties are evidenced by the declared reaction-to-fire performance class B2ca s1d1a1 according to EN 50575.

Cables with the functional integrity in the case of fire Apart from the fact that these cables do not impair conditions for escaping persons and intervening security forces during the fire, they carry the electric current or signal and supply the fire-safety equipment that actively contributes to saving lives and property. The functional integrity class of cables is not included in EN 50575, nevertheless, it is tested in the Czech Re-public since 2008 and these cables are classified as B2ca s1d1a1 according to National Decree no. 268/2011. DESIGN
APPLICATION
This cable is intended for the stationary distribution of electrical energy and can be used in enviroments according to the Exter-nal infl uences table below as long as the ends of the cable are thoroughly secured against the ingress of water and moisture and its sheath remains undamaged during installation and operation. The terminal equipment into which the cable is connected (e.g. distribution boxes, switchboards, couplers etc.) must comply with at least the same operating environment requirements as the cable itself. The cable is intended for fi xed, universal installation – outside in air (the cable is not self-supporting) or underground, but also inside buildings such as hotels, hospitals, underground railways, airports and in other places where there is an increased concentration of people, etc. to protect people and techni-cal building equipment in the event of fi re if circuit integrity is required. The cable releases little heat and smoke under fi re. The cable is UV-resistant.

DESIGN
APPLICATION
This cable is intended for the stationary distribution of electrical energy and can be used in enviroments in according to the table “Possible external infl uences” below as long as the ends of the cable are thoroughly secured against the ingress of water and moisture and its sheath remains undamaged during installa-tion and operation. The terminal equipment into which the cable is connected (e.g. distribution boxes, switchboards, couplers etc.) must comply with all the relevant requirements in the table “Possible external infl uences”. The cables are intended for fi xed, universal installation – outside in air or underground, but also inside buildings such as hotels, hospitals, underground railways, airports etc. to protect people and technical building equipment in the event of fi re if circuit integrity is not required. The cable re-leases little heat and smoke under fi re. The cable is UV-resistant.

TECHNICAL DATADESIGN
APPLICATION
This cable is intended for the transmission of analog and digital data and can be used in enviroments according to the Exter-nal infl uences table below as long as the ends of the cable are thoroughly secured against the ingress of water and moisture and its sheath remains undamaged during installation and operation. The terminal equipment into which the cable is connected (e.g. distribution boxes, switchboards, couplers etc.) must comply with at least the same operating environment requirements as the cable itself. The cable is intended for fi xed, universal installation – outside in air (the cable is not self-supporting) or underground, but also inside buildings such as hotels, hospitals, underground railways, airports and in other places where there is an increased concentration of people, etc. to protect people and technical building equipment in the event of fi re if circuit integrity is not required. The cable releases little heat and smoke under fi re. The cable is UV-resistant.

DESIGN
The cable is intended for fi xed, universal installation – outside in air (the cable is not self-supporting) or underground, but also inside buildings such as hotels, hospitals, underground railways, airports and in other places where there is an increased concentration of people, etc. to protect people and technical building equipment in the event of fi re if circuit integrity is not required. The cable releases little heat and smoke under fi re. The cable is UV-resistant.
