Conductor Identification
Brown, Black
Marking on the outer sheath
On the outer sheath by embossing on two primary
lines with the following information (example) : Legend 1 (line 1):
CABELTE ELECTRIC CABLE 600/1000 V
NR/L2/ELP/27408 PVC 2x50 Al YEAR H NMR
“Railway Catalogue number” Property of Network Rail M.M.
Legend 2 (line 2):
CABELTE ELECTRIC CABLE 600/1000 V
NR/L2/ELP/27408 PVC 2x50 Al YEAR H NMR
“Railway Catalogue number” Property of Network Rail
Year - Year of manufacture
M.M. - Metric Marking (shall be printed)
Line 1 and line 2 are spaced ~180º.
The distance between the end of one element of marking
and the beginning of the next identical element of marking
is ≤ 550mm.
(1) - Whilst the rated voltage is 600/1000V, the reinforced
insulation thickness permits an insulation level suitable for
voltages 1000/1730V (Uo/U).
SAC/XLPE/FGT/PVC
Circular conductors schematic design
Shaped conductors schematic design
1 – Conductor Solid Aluminium Conductors (SAC), circular
(≤ 35mm2) or shaped (> 35mm2), class 1, according to
BS EN 60228.
2 – Insulation
XLPE type GP 8 according to BS 7655-1.3.
The two insulated conductors are stranded.
3 – Bedding (only in circular conductors design)
PVC.
4 – Identification tape
Polypropylene tape with a printed legend: “Property of Network Rail CABELTE YEAR”, applied over the
stranded cores.
Thickness = 50µm | Minimum width = 5mm.
5 – Rodent protection
Fibreglass tape, helically applied with a minimum
overlap of 15%. Weaving design: plain weave 1/1
(272 tex). Nominal thickness of tape = 0,65mm.
Optional tape - Polypropylene plastic tape applied
under the fiber glass tape, helically with overlap.
Nominal thickness of the tape =0,05mm
6 – Outer sheath
PVC type 9 according to BS 7655-4.2.
7 – Fillers
PVC.
