HYDRAULIC CABLE SPIKING TOOL

The spiking tool is totally hydraulic in operation and does not require cartridges or a licence to operate. The product has been developed for use under all conditions and through extensive testing meets all required safety precautions.

The spiking tool is simple to operate and will easily penetrate every form of normally applied cable covering up to 110mm outside diameter. The design is such that it will provide years of trouble free usage and can be used vertically or horizontally.

In the event of accidental spiking into a live cable the chisel will be burned. Minimum repairs would be needed such as resharpening the chisel or replacing it immediately at low cost.

A number of municipalities are now insisting on the use of a spiking tool to finally determine if a cable is dead before cutting. The intelligent use of this unit can be a lifesaver and under all conditions will give definite manpower accident prevention.

The spiking tool and all its components comes packed in a powder coated case.

Compression ResistanceKabelflex has excellent compression resistance, or “ring stiffness” due to the reinforcing effect of the external corrugations. Kabelflex has more than 5 times the ring stiffness of normal duty uPVC sewer pipe** (550kPaversus 100kPa). High ringstiffness is an important consideration where conduits are buried in areas with high superimposed loads, for exampleat road crossings. All buried cable conduits should have a ring stiffness of at least 450kPa.**110mm pipe to SABS 791-1986

Chemical ResistanceAs Kabelflex is manufactured from HDPE it is highly chemicallyresistant. It is unaffected by acidsor alkalis in the most aggressivesoils and is also resistant to petroleum. A detailed chemical resistance specification isavailable on request.

JointingKabelflex is joined by means of push fit couplings (which providean IP30 index of protection). For conduit sizes DN75, DN110 and DN160 optional profiled rubber seals are available which are used with the couplings to provide a watertight connection resistant toa 2 metre head of water. Special cutting tools are available forquick and accurate cutting of the conduit.

Kabelflex -Cost effective

and innovative

Impact ResistanceImpact resistance is a measure of how easily a pipe splits or cracks when subjected to an impactforce. Pipes with a low impact strength will tend to crack andsplit when handled roughly orwhen plate compactors are used during installation. Kabelflex has a far superior impact strength to uPVC sewer pipes especially atlow temperatures, which means easier handling and less breakages.

Temperature ResistanceKabelflex has an upper working temperature of 100°C versus60°C for uPVC pipe (measured in accordance with DIN53446). The thermal conductivity of HDPE (0.4W/mK) is also better than uPVC (0.14W/mK) which means better dissipation of heat generated by cables.

UV ResistanceKabelflex is designed to be buried underground, however, itis UV resistant and can bestored outdoors for up to oneyear.
